Kenosha had devolved following the police shooting of Jacob Blake, a black man, by a white Kenosha police officer.<\/p>\n<p>During the first week of the trial, prosecutors argued that Rittenhouse had chased the first man he shot, Joseph Rosenbaum. Harris said video evidence tells a different story.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s obviously pursuing him. He made threats. I don\u2019t know if the case is going to hold much,\u201d Harris told The Daily Wire in an interview last week at the Kenosha County Courthouse.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI do believe Rittenhouse will for sure get charged with having a weapon and being underage. I don\u2019t know. I\u2019m not a judge,\u201d Harris added.<\/p>\n<p>While Rittenhouse was attempting to protect a local used car dealership in downtown Kenosha, he was chased by protesters and fatally shot two people, Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber, and injured a third person, Gaige Grosskreutz. Rittenhouse has pled not guilty to charges of homicide and attempted homicide. His attorneys argue he acted in self-defense.<\/p>\n<p>Harris had several interactions with Rittenhouse and other armed citizens prior to the shootings.<\/p>\n<p>At one point during Harris\u2019 livestream, Rittenhouse can be heard telling Harris that he is a \u201cmedic.\u201d Harris cautioned him not to \u201clook for trouble\u201d with protesters, telling him, \u201cthey have their own medics.\u201d He told Rittenhouse \u201cI know you\u2019re just trying to make peace.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Harris also warned the armed men, \u201cthis whole crowd could burn you guys alive if you say the wrong thing.\u201d Protesters were upset because a dumpster fire had been put out.<\/p>\n<p>The second and third shootings happened about 100 feet in front of him, Harris said, and about five minutes later, his camera battery died.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, the prosecution clashed with the judge over showing Harris\u2019 livestream video to the jury as evidence.<\/p>\n<p>The defense objected to the audio of the footage, saying Harris was \u201ceditorializing\u201d in his narration, making it \u201chearsay\u201d and therefore unacceptable. That\u2019s absurd,\u201d attorney Mark Richards said.As a result of the controversy, Harris was subpoenaed and testified at the trial on Monday.When asked by the defense whether he had any information that Rittenhouse was \u201cin any type of militia,\u201d Harris said no.\u201cMy intent to cover that part of the story wasn\u2019t because I wanted to support or I want to empower militia or armed citizens,\u201d Harris explained to The Daily Wire, adding that he \u201ccan understand why\u201d the defense had an issue with the term.Rather, he began following the armed men because they were a \u201cdifferent story\u201d than the unrest he had been filming in Kenosha for two days.Harris told the court that he warned the armed men because he was trying to \u201cdeescalate the situation\u201d but agreed with the defense that Rittenhouse was not acting aggressively or verbally threatening anyone.\u201cHe was offering help,\u201d Harris said.\u201cIt was interesting,\u201d Harris told The Daily Wire last week. \u201cI\u2019d like to say that it was entertaining or exciting, but the whole process of reliving and going through a lot of these things, this was a crazy situation, a violent situation.\u201dHarris said he covers lots of riots and protests, and often few people show up. This time, however, was different. Now, watching the videos back triggers \u201ca little PTSD\u201d he said with a nervous smile.\u201cThe whole situation, it\u2019s sad because nobody had to die,\u201d Harris said. \u201cAnd there\u2019s nobody made a good decision, not the law enforcement, not Rittenhouse, not the armed citizens, not the protesters.\u201d\u201cEven when we watch this trial, everyone\u2019s programmed to be very tribal about it,\u201d Harris said. \u201cI\u2019m happy with a just, honest, unpoliticized outcome. I want whatever is right.
