(Photo by Scott Olson\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>That investment in affordable housing totals $150 billion.<\/p>\n<p>NPR <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2021\/11\/06\/1052876271\/democrats-are-seeking-largest-ever-investment-in-affordable-housing\">reported<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"17\">\n<p>Local zoning rules often block the construction of smaller homes on smaller lots or affordable apartment buildings.
