Rick Scott appeared on CNN\u2019s \u201cNew Day\u201d Monday to discuss a range of issues, including the recent Virginia gubernatorial election, as well as Critical Race Theory (CRT).<\/p>\n<p>During the interview, \u201cNew Day\u201d co-host Brianna Keilar refused to acknowledge the evidence CRT is being taught in Virginia public schools, while Scott referenced specific examples of the concept being promoted in the state. <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/11\/03\/nicolle-wallace-denies-critical-race-theory\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>(RELATED: Nicolle Wallace Denies Reality: Critical Race Theory \u2018Isn\u2019t Real\u2019)<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>WATCH:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The debate began after Keilar asked Scott if the GOP\u2019s \u201cplaybook\u201d for the 2022 midterms is to ignore former President Donald Trump, hinting that this might have been Governor-elect Glenn Youngkin\u2019s strategy in the Virginia race.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Virginia governor\u2019s race, is that the GOP playbook for the midterms, basically ignoring Donald Trump?\u201d Keilar asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think what Democrats will continue to do is talk about Donald Trump and Republicans will continue to talk about issues. Glenn Youngkin won his race because he talked about issues and I think that\u2019s what\u2019s going to happen,\u201d Scott began. \u201cWe\u2019re going to see just like in Virginia Terry McAuliffe wanted to say there\u2019s nothing about Critical Race Theory. We know it\u2019s true. Parents know their kids are being indoctrinated with Critical Race Theory in Virginia and Democrats wanted to deny it. And so parents showed up because they don\u2019t like being lied to.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Keilar immediately jumped in, saying, \u201cjust to be clear, it\u2019s not in the curriculum in Virginia.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s when Scott cited evidence from Virginia\u2019s Department of Education <a href=\"https:\/\/www.virginiaisforlearners.virginia.gov\/what-we-are-reading\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">website<\/a> that shows CRT has been part of public schools\u2019 curriculum even when Terry McAuliffe was last governor.<\/p>\n<p>However, Keilar jumped in again to repeat, \u201cTo be clear, it\u2019s not part of the curriculum.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Scott went on to cite examples of the concept being taught in Virginia public schools and said he hopes Democrats keep saying that they are not promoting CRT even when the evidence suggests they do because \u201cparents are not stupid.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think parents are smart. My parents didn\u2019t have much of a formal education, but they cared about what I learned. Parents are smart,\u201d Scott said. \u201cThey know that the Virginia Department of Education promoted critical race theory and Terry McAuliffe said they didn\u2019t. I hope Democrats keep doing that all across the country,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFine. It\u2019s not part of the curriculum. I would like to move on with you,\u201d Keilar said, before moving on to a new subject.<\/p>\n<p>Despite Keilar\u2019s claims that CRT is \u201cnot part of the curriculum\u201d in Virginia schools, the Virginia Education Department does promote pro-CRT books on its website, as Scott claimed and as <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/10\/28\/virginia-education-department-promotes-pro-crt-book-despite-mcauliffes-claims-the-curricula-isnt-taught-in-the-state\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a> by the Daily Caller.<\/p>\n<p>The website\u2019s list includes titles such as \u201cFoundations of Critical Race Theory in Education\u201d that \u201cacts to further spur developments in education policy, critical pedagogy, and social justice, making it a crucial resource for students and educators alike,\u201d according to its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.routledge.com\/Foundations-of-Critical-Race-Theory-in-Education\/Taylor-Gillborn-Ladson-Billings\/p\/book\/9781138819450#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">description<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Republican Florida Sen.
