Critics were quick to point out that the Centers for Disease Control has yet to approve the vaccine for fictional anthropomorphic birds and expressed concern about the anti-science message that Big Bird&#8217;s &#8220;vaccination&#8221; was sending our children.<\/p>\n<p>The controversy continued on Monday, when internet sleuths dug up some of Big Bird&#8217;s old social media posts, including several that contained offensive language and exposed the character&#8217;s ties to controversial celebs. In June 2018, for example, Big Bird liked a fan&#8217;s Twitter post that described the <em>Sesame Street<\/em> character as &#8220;my spirit animal.&#8221; Anti-racism experts have repeatedly denounced the phrase &#8220;spirit animal&#8221; as an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discovermagazine.com\/planet-earth\/please-stop-using-the-term-spirit-animal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">offensive appropriation<\/a> of Indigenous culture.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1536702\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/tweet-bb.png\" alt width=\"736\" height=\"428\" srcset=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/tweet-bb.png 736w, https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/tweet-bb-300x174.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 736px) 100vw, 736px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;To \u2018claim&#8217; a spirit animal is arguably extremely arrogant and shows a misunderstanding of the concept and respect for what they are,&#8221; said Tristan Picotte, who was raised in the Lakota tribe on the Cheyenne River Reservation in South Dakota, in an interview with Yahoo Life.<\/p>\n<p>The phrase has in recent years become increasingly popular almost exclusively among elite liberals and other morons who spend way too much time on the internet.&nbsp;Democratic strategist Tim Lim in December 2020&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TimLimDC\/status\/1339606396204158976\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">used<\/a> it to describe failed candidate Hillary Clinton as &#8220;my spirit animal forever and always.&#8221; Over the summer, former MSNBC host Tour\u00e9, a.k.a. &#8220;Young Daddy,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Toure\/status\/1399858803588411395\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">claimed<\/a> tennis star Venus Williams as his &#8220;spirit animal.&#8221; MSNBC host Ali Velshi also <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AliVelshi\/status\/1396654567249559554\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">used<\/a> the phrase earlier this year. Alas, its popularity among a certain demographic does not make it any less offensive.<\/p>\n<p>Big Bird has also used its official Twitter account, which declines to list the character&#8217;s preferred pronouns, to <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BigBird\/status\/803596956375334912\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">promote<\/a> sugar consumption among children. Science has conclusively <a href=\"https:\/\/news.usc.edu\/trojan-family\/help-kids-eat-less-sugar-usc-pediatrician-tips\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">determined<\/a> that sugar is bad for kids. The <em>Sesame Street<\/em> resident has endorsed the inflammatory <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BigBird\/status\/1296869990226972674\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">suggestion<\/a> that an individual&#8217;s racial background or &#8220;color&#8221; is subjective and can change based on how that person might feel at a given time. &#8220;Some days I&#8217;m feeling blue, some days I\u2019m tickled pink\u2026 but most days this bird is mellow yellow. What color do you feel today?&#8221; Big Bird tweeted in August 2020.<\/p>\n<p>As if that weren&#8217;t alarming enough, the internet sleuths unearthed a series of social media posts and old photographs that highlight Big Bird&#8217;s ties to other celebrities who have been denounced for offensive behavior. For example, the character <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BigBird\/status\/1263837644880044033\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">promoted<\/a>&nbsp;its collaboration with <em>Hamilton<\/em> writer Lin-Manuel Miranda for the Apple TV series <i>Dear\u2026<\/i>, which debuted in June 2020. The recent film adaptation of Miranda&#8217;s musical&nbsp;<em>In the Heights&nbsp;<\/em>was an objectively racist&nbsp;tribute to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/opinions\/2021\/06\/21\/in-the-heights-lin-manuel-miranda-black-colorism-afro-latinos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">white<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vox.com\/first-person\/2021\/6\/18\/22537351\/in-the-heights-lin-manuel-miranda-colorism\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">supremacy<\/a>. The Broadway celeb has also been <a href=\"https:\/\/ew.com\/theater\/transgender-hamilton-actor-fired\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">accused<\/a> of fostering a transphobic workplace environment.<\/p>\n<p>Big Bird&#8217;s other problematic &#8220;friends&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BigBird\/status\/898168339067019265\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">include<\/a> controversial TV hosts Jimmy Kimmel and Ellen DeGeneres. Kimmel was forced last year to issue what the <em>Los Angeles Times<\/em> described as a &#8220;lame&#8221; apology for repeatedly wearing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2020\/06\/23\/entertainment\/jimmy-kimmel-blackface-apology\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">blackface<\/a> in his comedy performances. DeGeneres, meanwhile, has been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buzzfeednews.com\/article\/krystieyandoli\/ellen-employees-allege-toxic-workplace-culture\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">accused<\/a> of presiding over a &#8220;toxic work culture&#8221; in which employees are routinely subjected to &#8220;racism, fear, and intimidation.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>On the set of <em>Sesame Street<\/em>, the giant yellow bird has mingled with the likes of convicted rapist Bill Cosby, disgraced Hollywood pervert Kevin Spacey, and <em>Jeopardy!<\/em> champion Ken Jennings, who once <a href=\"https:\/\/www.huffpost.com\/entry\/ken-jennings-wheelchair-joke_n_5864374\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">argued<\/a> there was &#8220;nothing sadder than a hot person in a wheelchair,&#8221; among other offensive tweets that precluded him from succeeding Alex Trebek as host of the popular quiz show.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1536810\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/bb-celebs.png\" alt width=\"736\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/bb-celebs.png 736w, https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/bb-celebs-300x183.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 736px) 100vw, 736px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Big Bird could not be reached for comment.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Satire Anthropomorphic star of &#8216;Sesame Street&#8217; allegedly got COVID-19 vaccine over the weekend.
