The rules state companies with over 100 employees will receive $14,000 fines for each violation. The fines may increase to&nbsp;$136,532 for repeated violations. A trucking business with over 100 employees, named Lawrence Transportation Company, told the <em>Examiner<\/em> their strategy may be to fire employees to reach under the 100 employee threshold. But the owner,&nbsp;Eric Lawrence, also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/truckers-warn-disastrous-mandate-will-worsen-supply-chain-chaos\">noted<\/a> fewer drivers may not be enough volume to remain open.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, if we\u2019ve got to get under 100 in January, and they drop another ruling on us, and now, we\u2019ve got to get under 50? I don\u2019t know. It just isn\u2019t feasible,\u201d Lawrence stated.<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2019s vaccine mandate has additionally caused the ATA to consider canceling government contracts rather than firing employees.&nbsp;\u201cI am confident but with heavy heart recognize a vaccine mandate will mean less capacity for the government as a customer of freight,\u201d Executive Vice President for Advocacy Bill Sullivan&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/11\/01\/report-truckers-weigh-canceling-government-contracts-rather-firing-unvaccinated-workers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">told<\/a>&nbsp;<em>Politico<\/em>&nbsp;October 31.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"9.0675675675676\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Members of the aerospace, distribution, defense and trucking sectors are warning the Biden administration they will not be able to meet its vaccine deadline <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/YZsWEr9W89\">https:\/\/t.co\/YZsWEr9W89<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 POLITICO (@politico) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/politico\/status\/1454795656514654208?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 31, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Such pushback on Biden\u2019s mandate by industry leaders is an indicator the supply chain crisis may take a turn for the worst. With ports jammed full of containers, the docks are struggling to keep up with full container ships waiting to unload cargo outside port complexes. Breitbart News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2021\/11\/05\/backlog-report-nearly-160-ships-waiting-outside-la-ports-unload-goods\/\">reported<\/a> Friday 159 ships were anchored outside the Long Beach and Los Angeles port complex&nbsp;to unload. And the backlog of ships has seemingly been increasing. In October there were 100 ships waiting to offload goods and in September there were 60.<\/p>\n<p>The backlogged ports have also impacted truck drivers. Truckers have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2021\/11\/05\/backlog-report-nearly-160-ships-waiting-outside-la-ports-unload-goods\/\">expressed<\/a> frustration over the challenge of quickly picking up a container from the ports without waiting in long lines for hours.<\/p>\n<p>The obstacle of obtaining loads from the ports has made it more difficult for truckers to earn money. As truckers are dependent on making successful deliveries to earn a living, delays may set them up to be fired, increasing the trucker shortage.<\/p>\n<p>Truck drivers, who are often immigrants, are typically responsible for their rigs, which they purchase from trucking companies.
