Darrell Issa (R-CA) laid out GOP plans on <em>Breitbart News Saturday<\/em> for taking Congress back from the \u201cdying\u201d Democrat Party and making President Joe Biden a \u201cone-term president.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After Virginia Governor-elect Glenn Youngkin\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/11\/02\/donald-trump-glenn-youngkin-win-proves-maga-movement-bigger-and-stronger-than-ever-before\/\">surprising blue-state win<\/a>, followed by House Democrats\u2019 speedy push to pass President Joe Biden\u2019s infrastructure agenda, Republicans are narrowing down their strategy to boot leftists from power in 2022 and 2024. Issa referred to the bill\u2019s passing \u2014 which was aided by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/11\/06\/traitor-13-establishment-house-republicans-face-backlash-for-enabling-joe-bidens-radical-agenda\/\">13 Republicans<\/a>&nbsp;\u2014 as a \u201cdesperate act of a dying party.\u201d He noted that Democrats, after seeing Republicans win in Virginia and nearly win in deep blue New Jersey, view the spending bills as their chance to have \u201csome accomplishment\u201d before voters potentially cast them out of power in the coming months and years.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThey were able to convince the left to let this go forward so that they would have some accomplishment because quite frankly, AOC [Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY)] thinks they didn\u2019t do enough and that\u2019s why they got defeated,\u201d Issa told&nbsp;host Matthew Boyle, Breitbart News\u2019s Washington bureau chief. \u201cYou and I and your listeners know that, in fact, what happened was there was a rejection by the true swing voters \u2014 suburban white women, and a host of others, even minorities. [They] said, \u2018Oh wait a second, this part of socialism we don\u2019t want. We want to control our kids. We want to control our lives.\u201d\u2018<\/p>\n<p>Issa emphasized that \u201creturning Republicans\u201d are planning to unite against Democrats\u2019 next <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/11\/05\/report-democrat-spending-bill-costs-more-than-twice-what-pelosi-says\/\">$4 trillion spending bill<\/a>, notwithstanding the the actions of politicians former President Donald Trump called \u201cRINOs\u201d [Republican in name only], who \u201cgave Biden and Democrats a victory on the \u2018Non-Infrastructure\u2019 Bill, where only 11% of the money being wasted goes to real infrastructure.\u201d Issa also said Republicans who plan on staying, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/midterm-election\/2021\/10\/29\/anti-trump-impeachment-republican-adam-kinzinger-announces-retirement\/\">unlike the&nbsp;Rep. Adam Kinzinger<\/a> (R-IL) types, are looking to Youngkin\u2019s governor campaign as a model of how to fight Democrats and win moving forward.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>LISTEN:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Boyle noted during the interview that Youngkin\u2019s strategy exemplified how the Republican Party is not a \u201ccult of personality,\u201d but instead a \u201cmovement of ideas,\u201d and more specifically pointed to how Youngkin did not disavow Trump and led with an America First agenda while being his own brand.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you run away from Trump, you will fail. \u2026 In fact, embrace that which the American people now strongly support from the Trump years, including engaging against the growth of China and fairness of trade, engaging against their expansion militarily, which peace through strength if I\u2019ve ever seen it, and you reject the closing of Bagram and the abandonment of 37 million people, and you realize that we have to re-engage in the way that President Trump did, which is pushing NATO and other allies to do their fair share, but not walking away from America\u2019s role in the world,\u201d Issa replied. \u201cAnd at the same time, reinvest in the economy. The Trump economy wasn\u2019t just a stock market economy, it was all the way down to working people at restaurants who had good jobs and growing paychecks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Issa emphasized choosing now-Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT), who \u201d just wanted to be liked,\u201d to challenge Barack Obama\u2019s presidency in 2012 was a mistake not to be repeated. Issa said that if Trump himself does not run in 2024, then whoever Republicans nominate for president in the next election will closely mirror his style and substance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat whole process is where somebody is going to be our nominee, but it\u2019s not going to be a milquetoast nominee and it\u2019s not going to be someone who just wants to be liked. It\u2019s going to be somebody who embraces, if not Trump, certainly the Trump agenda and more, because there are evolving needs by the American people,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>One thing the GOP will takeaway from the experience, however, is drawing attention to Biden\u2019s \u201cextremism\u201d just as they did during Obama\u2019s presidency when the GOP heavily by emphasized several scandals, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/border\/2017\/06\/24\/atf-whistleblower-obamas-doj-obstructed-justice-fast-furious-investigation\/\">\u201cFast and Furious,\u201d<\/a>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2016\/09\/30\/it-took-obama-six-hours-to-respond-to-benghazi-and-hillary-didnt-find-him\/\">Benghazi<\/a>, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2017\/04\/10\/documents-confirm-that-obama-irs-improperly-targeted-conservatives\/\">IRS targeting conservatives<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI believe we will define what\u2019s wrong with the Obama 2.0 administration with Biden. We are going to define it very much like we did in 2010 and 2012. Then we have to make sure we have \u2026a presidential candidate who really matches the aspirations of the the Republican Party from the bottom up. The kinds of things that your listeners are listening to. That\u2019s what you need to hear and see,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Among those potential weaknesses is Biden\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/09\/01\/poll-majority-of-voters-say-biden-should-resign-over-botched-afghanistan-withdrawal\/\">botched withdrawal<\/a> from Afghanistan, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/10\/24\/analyst-bidens-record-high-illegal-immigration-unmitigated-disaster\/\">immigration crisis<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2021\/11\/04\/bidenflation-labor-costs-soar-even-while-real-worker-pay-crashes\/\">inflation crisis<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2021\/11\/05\/backlog-report-nearly-160-ships-waiting-outside-la-ports-unload-goods\/\">supply chain crisis<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/10\/12\/poll-joe-biden-losing-trust-on-chinese-coronavirus\/\">Chinese coronavirus pandemic<\/a>, and the left\u2019s continued insistence on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/11\/07\/u-s-navy-launches-ship-named-after-gay-rights-leader-harvey-milk\/\">prioritizing race and gender<\/a> while America\u2019s enemies <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/national-security\/2021\/10\/17\/china-stuns-u-s-intelligence-hypersonic-missile-test\/\">construct hypersonic missiles<\/a>. Polls across the board show the president flailing in all of the above mentioned areas, his overall approval rating <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/11\/07\/poll-biden-approval-plummets-under-38-percent-republicans-take-commanding-8-point-lead-generic-midterm-ballot\/\">plummeting to 38 percent<\/a>, while&nbsp;Republicans take a commanding 8-Point lead on the generic midterm ballot.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re the party of free and fair elections. We\u2019re the party of free and fair trade, and we\u2019re the party that believes in individual liberties,\u201d Issa said in comparison, noting that Trump succeeded because he met the moment in 2016. \u201cAnd so as you look at governor\u2019s and a few senators and a number of other candidates, you see a lot of people who, in fact, do match the aspirations of the party. And of course President Trump is also in the fray, and that will be his decision. But, I don\u2019t think we have any problem at all \u2014 we have, if you will, multiple candidates.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Issa specifically mentioned Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) by name when talking about strong potential 2024 candidates.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo who\u2019s going to be the next president? Ron DeSantis was on my committee, and he was a young upstart when he came to the committee. And you know what? He was somebody who said \u2018I will take charge. I will take responsibility.\u2019 It\u2019s why he\u2019s a great governor,\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019re going to see a lot of candidates like that, but I guarantee they\u2019re going to be ground-up people. They\u2019re not going to be \u2018go-along, get-along,\u2019 \u2018I want to be liked\u2019 people.
