(Photo by Alex Wong\/Getty Images)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The&nbsp;<em>Times<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/11\/06\/us\/politics\/james-okeefe-project-veritas-ashley-biden.html\">noted<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"17\">\n<p>Federal authorities on Saturday searched the home of James O\u2019Keefe, the founder of the conservative group Project Veritas, according to witnesses and people briefed on the matter, a day after Mr. O\u2019Keefe acknowledged that the group was under investigation by the Justice Department in connection with a diary reported to have been stolen from Ashley Biden, President Biden\u2019s daughter.<\/p>\n<p>\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Mr. O\u2019Keefe did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Saturday. But in a video statement on Friday, he said that his group had recently received a grand jury subpoena and acknowledged that Project Veritas had been involved in discussions with sources last year about the diary.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>O\u2019Keefe said that his Project Veritas decided not to run stories about the diary, and had returned it to law enforcement:<\/p>\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"FBI and Southern District of New York Raid Project Veritas Journalists\u2019 Homes\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/nNpbvsS7K0g?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<p>George Washington University Jonathan Turley <a href=\"https:\/\/jonathanturley.org\/2021\/11\/07\/fbi-raids-project-veritas-over-a-missing-biden-diary\/#more-180353\">wrote<\/a> that the O\u2019Keefe raid was odd, as a stolen diary did not seem to implicate any kind federal crime, and suggested the possibility that Biden\u2019s Department of Justice might have been targeting a journalist seen as a political opponent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe use of the FBI is also reminiscent of the still unexplained use of the FBI when Joe Biden was Vice President to search for a gun owned by Hunter Biden that was discarded behind a restaurant,\u201d Turley noted, adding that there should be more concern expressed by other media organizations over the raid.<\/p>\n<p><em>Joel B.
