They have given the unvaccinated priests several days to decide their course of action.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Dodoni spoke on the matter, saying: \u201cWhen the believer does not hear the voice of the church, he puts himself out of the church.\u201d Adding: \u201cAnyone who has not been vaccinated should be outside the church premises. When a believer does not obey the decisions of the church, he puts himself out of the church.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>He continued that those who refuse the vaccine may be encouraged to take it if the priests in churches were also vaccinated. He also stated that any priests taking part in anti-vaccine demonstrations was unacceptable, Greek newspaper<em> Proto Thema<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.protothema.gr\/greece\/article\/1178199\/iera-sunodos-mono-me-test-oi-anemvoliastoi-stous-naous\/\">reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Greek Orthodox Holy Synod, the governing body of the church, also called on both clergy and laymen to get vaccinated against the coronavirus this week in a statement.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"5.9586206896552\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Greek Churches Accused of Helping Circumvent Lockdown Restrictions <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/xSfobRiPHF\">https:\/\/t.co\/xSfobRiPHF<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart London (@BreitbartLondon) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartLondon\/status\/1373328265662857222?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 20, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cResponding to the surge in coronavirus cases, the Holy Synod, in addition to its written circulars and instructions, appeals to all its clergy, as well as to the faithful, that when they attend holy temples they fully observe all measures to protect from the spread of coronavirus disease and urges everyone to get vaccinated, according to the instructions of the medical community,\u201d the statement <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ekathimerini.com\/news\/1171072\/holy-synod-calls-on-priests-public-to-get-jab\/\">said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Greek Orthodox Church has had a somewhat negative reaction to the measures implemented by the Greek government in response to the coronavirus pandemic and had previously resisted strict lockdown measures in the past.<\/p>\n<p>In January, the Holy Synod stated that it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2021\/01\/05\/greek-church-rebels-rejects-government-lockdown-measures\/\">would not consent<\/a> to a government bid to close churches to stop the spread of the virus.
