They really start to express themselves, their likes and dislikes and one of the things that my son likes \u2014 no, loves \u2014 is a walk. I\u2019m not joking when I say I can put my son in a stroller for three hours and he won\u2019t make a peep. He just holds the handle bar and smiles.<\/p>\n<p>We were in DC this past weekend and the weather was absolute autumn perfection. So I decided I couldn\u2019t miss the opportunity to take him around for some errands. Instead of putting him in the stroller, I put him in a carrier. He was attached to my chest facing outward and I\u2019m not kidding when I say that I could feel his happy energy radiating off of me \u2014 radiating outward to every person who was walking around the city.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m also not kidding when I say that every person we walked by, no matter who they were, no matter what walk of life they were from, or what sort of mood they were in, couldn\u2019t help themselves. Instantly a smile would cut across their face and they got this look, you know what look I\u2019m talking about \u2014 it\u2019s almost a dreamy one \u2014 the look we give when we come across unadulterated happiness.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>There was this younger black woman who was walking past us and said \u201che looks like he is having the best time ever,\u201d to which I responded \u201cmy baby loves a walk.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A few paces later and I was standing outside of a Starbucks. I noticed this older white couple who were clearly fighting their every impulse to say something as well. Finally, the gentleman, \u2014 on the brink of an implosion \u2014 goes \u201cI just have to say, that that is the cutest baby that I have ever seen\u201d \u2014 to which his wife chimes in, \u201cand we have grandchildren that are not going to be happy to know he said that.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Their various smiles and reactions set against the backdrop of the most politically charged city in the country made me realize something. Despite our many differences, despite the ever-encroaching feeling that we have nothing left to unite every citizen around \u2014 not a president, not a policy, not even a flag anymore \u2014 there is still hope. There\u2019s still hope because there are still children. Children are the hope. They possess a spiritual purity that somehow unites us, across race, across political parties \u2014 on this one topic we very much agree.I believe our government took a step too far when they shifted their focus to our children. For example, the sexually explicit material taught in elementary schools. That was a step too far. Suggesting that parents who are concerned about that material are domestic terrorists? That was a step too far.The evidence of that is everywhere \u2014 most conspicuously perhaps, in Virginia, where Glenn Youngkin, a Republican gubernatorial candidate who shouldn\u2019t have had a shot in hell against incumbent democratic governor Terry McAuliffe, just won.For reference, President Biden carried Virginia by 10 points in the 2020 election. That\u2019s not because of Youngkin, by the way. I\u2019m sure he\u2019s a great guy, but it wasn\u2019t Youngkin\u2019s personality that motivated democrats to come out in support of him. It was actually his opponent. It was Terry McAuliffe, who said during a televised debate, that he vetoed a bill which would have informed parents that pornographic material was being made available to their minor children via the school library. It was Terry McAullife who said, \u201cI don\u2019t think parents should be telling schools what they should teach.\u201dYeah, that was the step too far.I have been telling you since this show began that children are now the government\u2019s new focus. They want more control over the things they are being taught and are making parents fight to regain that control \u2014 just like parents now have to fight for their children not to sit behind cloth masks for hours per a day.And the next battle on the horizon, if you are paying any attention, is going to be covid-19 vaccines.This weekend, the FDA announced their approval, for emergency use, of covid-19 vaccines for children between the ages of 5-11 years old.\u00a0What\u2019s the emergency, you ask? Your guess is as good as mine. Children have a virtually 0% chance of dying from covid. In fact, to date, I haven\u2019t found a single case of a child or baby who died purely from COVID-19.To be clear, I say \u201cpurely,\u201d because they instead use doublespeak. \u201cDied with complications from\u201d or \u201cwith\u201d covid is the language they\u2019ve used in the very few cases they\u2019ve publicized. Except, when I dug deeper into those hysterical claims, I discovered that those children had severe comorbidities, like meningitis or terminal cancers.\u00a0These are the games that governments are playing to inspire fear.\u00a0And somehow, they\u2019ve managed to approve this vaccine for emergency use. I think we can fathom what comes next.If our government believes that parents desiring to know what their children are being taught is a form of domestic terrorism, if parents no longer have a say in whether or not their children should be forced to wear cloths over their faces, then you better believe that even in the absence of risk, parents of small children will not be given any right to decide whether or not their children will be injected with a new vaccine \u2014 a vaccine, by the way, which doesn\u2019t even stop people from spreading the virus.\u00a0A vaccine, by the way, which comes with a warning of heart inflammation and myocarditis for minors. Still, I bet they will issue mandates\u00a0 and they will suppress and censor any person who dares to speak out against the mandates.\u00a0I bet they\u2019ll do the same to any individual who complies and receives the vaccine \u2014 and then speaks out honestly about a bad reaction their child has had from it. Their stories will be labeled \u201cmisinformation,\u201d because only the government determines the information now. \u201cMissing context,\u201d\u00a0 they\u2019ll say, because the government determines the context now. \u201cAnti-vaxxer, science-denier!\u201d Because denying the government control of your body \u2014 or your child \u2014 makes you both.\u00a0And perhaps, finally, they might even be labeled domestic terrorists for allowing their presumably-diseased children to roam freely without the jab. How dare they? How dare they allow children to breathe freely? To live freely? How dare they allow their children to roam the streets, unmasked and unjabbed \u2014 to spread joy \u2014 unadulterated joy?They might suggest through various CDC guidelines \u2014 that children should be perceived as a threat. How dare any parent allow their 5 year old to be a child?Except this time, my gut tells me, they are going to come up against a firm wall. This is it. I believe this is the issue that will bring Americans back together. Because when it comes to children, we are guided by something bigger than fear, bigger than government \u2014 it\u2019s instinctual and it\u2019s spiritual.So I don\u2019t care if you\u2019re a democrat.
