Steve Scalise (R-LA) ripped through the Democrats\u2019 2,300-page $1.8 trillion Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act before a vote by the entire U.S. House of Representatives on Friday night.<\/p>\n<p>Scalise <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=V-GIkctNcyw\"><span>criticized<\/span><\/a> the Democrats for rushing this bill to vote before the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) scored it and for including things unrelated to infrastructure. This includes proposals for mass amnesty, increasing the size of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and a natural gas tax that will increase energy costs.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"12.329545454545\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">In this bill Dems are trying to ram through:<br \/>\u2013 Mass amnesty<br \/>\u2013 87,000 new IRS agents<br \/>\u2013 Insane leftist mandates<br \/>\u2013 Giveaways to union bosses<br \/>\u2013 Natural gas tax that&#8217;ll raise energy costs<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a socialist takeover of America.<\/p>\n<p>No wonder they&#8217;re doing it in the dark of night. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/bvZ4v4BJ23\">pic.twitter.com\/bvZ4v4BJ23<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Steve Scalise (@SteveScalise) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SteveScalise\/status\/1456806402341670921?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 6, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI rise in strong opposition to the rule but specifically against this massive, multi-trillion-dollar tax and spend bill,\u201d Scalise said. \u201cOf course we just got the text last night \u2014 over 2300 pages. And as we\u2019ve been combing through, I\u2019d like to point out a few pieces in this bill.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Scalise pointed out that the infrastructure bill includes a natural gas tax, which would hit low-income families the hardest. \u201cPresident Biden promised that anyone who makes less than $400,000 a year won\u2019t spend a dime \u2014 will not pay a dime in new taxes. \u2026 The only problem is he breaks the promise right here in the bill \u2026 A tax that, according to the American Gas Association, will increase household electricity rates by 30 percent,\u201d said Scalise.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>The Democrats\u2019 bill includes amnesty for millions of illegal immigrants in the country. Scalise highlighted the timing of this bill with the news that Biden\u2019s administration intends to give illegal immigrants $450,000. \u201cEstimates are seven million more people. (Photo by Drew Angerer\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>When reports surfaced that the administration was planning to give reparations for illegal immigrants, Biden said, \u201cthat\u2019s not gonna happen.\u201d However, his own White House walked back his comments. \u201cThe president is perfectly comfortable with the&nbsp;Department of Justice&nbsp;settling with the individuals and families who are currently in litigation with the&nbsp;United States&nbsp;government,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/administration\/580142-white-house-walks-back-biden-comments-on-migrant-families-payments\"><span>said<\/span><\/a> deputy press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Next, Scalise highlighted a provision in the text that would add 87,000 more IRS agents. \u201cIt\u2019s an army of IRS agents that are going to comb through your bank account. They\u2019re going to be combing through your bank account, and why?\u201d asked Scalise. \u201cBecause they\u2019ve got to generate hundreds of billions of dollars to spend on more inflation-inducing spending.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite the Democrat claim that the bill will <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/pelosi-blasted-for-repeating-biden-talking-point-that-3-5-trillion-bill-will-cost-zero\"><span>cost<\/span><\/a> \u201c$0,\u201d Scalise pointed out that the true cost is around $5.5 trillion. \u201cAccording to this Penn Wharton account, you\u2019re going to have over $4 trillion of spending with one and a half trillion dollars of new taxes,\u201d said Scalise. \u201cBy the way, that\u2019s two and a half trillion of additional debt even though the president says there\u2019s no cost. No cost, just two and a half trillion of debt.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Scalise ended his floor speech by attacking the Democrats for voting on the bill at such a late hour Friday night. \u201cBut these IRS agents are gonna have to account for over $200 billion to find money from your checking accounts. That\u2019s what they\u2019re trying to do at dark of night,\u201d he said. \u201cWe started the morning at 8 a.m. We\u2019re here after 9 p.m. starting to get into the details of this bill. No wonder they don\u2019t want a CBO score. No wonder they want to do this by dark of night.\u201d Scalise then warned of the inflationary impact of this bill, saying, \u201cthis is going to induce more inflation that\u2019s hurting families all across America.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rep.
