(Photo by Chip Somodevilla\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h5>OAN Newsroom<br \/>UPDATED 1:12 PM PT \u2013 Friday, November 5, 2021<\/h5>\n<p>Republicans are sounding the alarm over increased OSHA penalties included in Joe Biden\u2019s Build Back Better legislation.<\/p>\n<p>Reports on Friday, indicated Democrats\u2019 $1.7 trillion spending proposal would bring OSHA violation fines up to $70,000 and in some cases, $700,000. Earlier in the week, Biden unveiled an executive order forcing businesses with more than 100 employees to enforce vaccine mandates or face penalties.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve been patient, but our patience is wearing thin, and your refusal has cost all of us,\u201d said Biden. \u201cWhile America is in much better shape than it was seven months ago when I took office, we\u2019re in a tough stretch and it could last for a while.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The deadline to get vaccinated has been changed to Jan. 4. Businesses will be required to ensure their workers are fully vaccinated or undergo weekly COVID-19 testing.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The Build Back Better Reconciliation Bill contains important items for worker safety:<br \/>\u2013$707 million to <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/OSHA?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#OSHA<\/a> to be spent over the next 5 years.<br \/>\u2013Significant increase in OSHA maximum penalties: <br \/>Serious: $13,653 to $70,000 <br \/>Willful:  $136,530 to $700,000 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/F5FbDvzo7P\">https:\/\/t.co\/F5FbDvzo7P<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/K5SAmrICbH\">pic.twitter.com\/K5SAmrICbH<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Jordan Barab (You&#8217;re on mute!)
