We\u2019re going to own this problem. We\u2019re going to work closely with the states. They are our key partners in getting this done. But we\u2019re also going to do the work ourselves,\u201d Ron Klain said on NBC\u2019s \u201cMeet the Press,\u201d referencing how over 41 million vaccine doses have been sent to states, but only 20 million have been administered.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re going to set up these federal vaccination centers to make sure that in states that don\u2019t have enough vaccination sites, we fill those gaps. We\u2019re going to work closely with the manufacturers to ramp up production. One of the first orders the president signed was using his legal authority under the Defense Production Act to mandate the production of more vials that can extract more doses out, more syringes that could extract more doses out of the existing vaccine vials. So we\u2019re going to use all the powers we have in the White House,\u201d added Klain, who spoke as Biden\u2019s nominee for health secretary\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/bidens-hhs-nominee-says-us-in-a-nosedive-on-covid-19_3668960.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told another station<\/a>\u00a0that the United States is seeing uncontrolled spread of COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>COVID-19 is the disease caused by the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/giving-the-right-name-to-the-virus-causing-a-worldwide-pandemic-2_3277200.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Biden unveiled\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/biden-releases-national-covid-19-strategy-will-spare-no-effort-to-ensure-americans-get-vaccinated_3666196.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a national COVID-19 strategy<\/a>\u00a0during his first full day in office and campaigned on the issue, saying he\u2019d be at the head of a response that would do better than former President Donald Trump\u2019s administration did. West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice, a Republican,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/west-virginia-governor-wants-to-boost-vaccine-administration-to-at-least-5-million-per-day_3668462.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said last week<\/a>\u00a0he wants the daily rate of nationwide vaccinations to shoot to 5 million, or even 10 million.<\/p>\n<p>Klain said Biden\u2019s goal is still \u201cvery bold and ambitious\u201d but hopes that even more Americans are vaccinated.<\/p>\n<p>Two Biden administration officials presented an apparent contradiction, with Jeff Zients, coordinator of the president\u2019s COVID-19 task force, suggesting during a call with reporters that Trump\u2019s team left them with little in the way of vaccine distribution. The claim was echoed in a CNN report that cited anonymous officials.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Anthony Fauci, though,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/fauci-contradicts-cnn-report-says-bidens-vaccine-distribution-not-starting-from-scratch_3666948.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told reporters<\/a>\u00a0during a briefing, \u201cWe certainly are not starting from scratch.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think those two statements actually reconcile more than you might think. I think what Dr. Fauci\u2019s saying is, of course, a year of really amazing scientific breakthrough and discovery created this vaccine in record time. And we have seen the initial wave of vaccinations take place. So that is progress we are building on. There\u2019s no question about it. But the process to distribute the vaccine, particularly outside of nursing homes and hospitals out into the community as a whole did not really exist when we came into the White House,\u201d Klain said Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs everyone in America has seen, the way in which people get vaccine is chaotic. It\u2019s very limited. We\u2019ve seen this factor all over the country where millions of doses have been distributed. About half of that has been given out.
