(Photo by JOSH EDELSON\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>According to Schmidt, Facebook, which has rebranded as Meta, \u201cwent a little too far on the revenue side and not enough on the judgment side.\u201d He added: \u201cYou can see that from the Facebook leaks that have been occurring.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The documents were revealed by far-left \u201cwhistleblower\u201d Frances Haugen and appeared to show that Facebook was aware that many of its products and policies were harming users, but prioritized profits over user health.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_18226890\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\" readability=\"32\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Former-Facebook-worker-Frances-Haugen-flashes-a-tight-smile.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-18226890\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Former-Facebook-worker-Frances-Haugen-flashes-a-tight-smile.jpg\" alt=\"Former Facebook worker Frances Haugen flashes a tight smile\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Former Facebook worker Frances Haugen flashes a tight smile<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>According to&nbsp;the&nbsp;<em>Wall Street Journal,<\/em>&nbsp;the internal documents reveal that the tech giant Apple threatened to remove Facebook from its App Store in 2019 following a&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/technology-50228549\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">report from BBC News<\/a>&nbsp;that detailed the human trafficking taking place across the social media platform.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>The&nbsp;<em>Wall Street Journal<\/em>&nbsp;also&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/tech\/2021\/09\/17\/wsj-facebooks-efforts-to-create-a-healthier-platform-failed-spectacularly\/\">claimed&nbsp;that Facebook\u2019s newsfeed algorithm<\/a>&nbsp;saw a major change in 2018 that appeared to promote outrageous and negative content on the platform. When informed of this, top executives including CEO Mark Zuckerberg were allegedly hesitant to solve the issue.<\/p>\n<p>In&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/tech\/2021\/09\/14\/wsj-facebooks-internal-documents-show-company-knows-instagram-is-terrible-for-teen-girls\/\">another report&nbsp;titled \u201cFacebook Knows Instagram Is Toxic for Teen Girls, Company Documents Show,\u201d<\/a>&nbsp;the Wall Street Journal claims that Facebook is aware that its photo-sharing app Instagram can have a negative effect on the body image of young women.<\/p>\n<p>Schmidt discussed the document leak, stating:&nbsp;\u201cThe disturbing thing is that people have said a long time ago that Facebook was doing this, but people said, \u2018Well, they didn\u2019t understand or they didn\u2019t measure it. And what we learned in those disclosures is that these companies \u2014 and Facebook in particular \u2014 knew what it was doing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Google has faced its own share of scandals relating to user health. Google has dealt with almost constant <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/tech\/2019\/03\/18\/malware-experts-google-invaded-privacy-and-harmed-trust-with-home-security-fiasco\/\">privacy issues,<\/a>&nbsp;and has&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/tech\/2018\/10\/09\/the-good-censor-google-growth-strategy-shift-towards-censorship-to-appease-authoritarian-governments\/\">engaged in an active \u201cshift towards censorship\u201d<\/a>&nbsp;to Appease Authoritarian Governments around the world.<\/p>\n<p>Breitbart News reporter Allum Bokhari wrote in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/tech\/2018\/10\/09\/the-good-censor-google-growth-strategy-shift-towards-censorship-to-appease-authoritarian-governments\/\">2018 report<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"32\">\n<p>An 85-page briefing entitled \u201cThe Good Censor,\u201d exclusively leaked to Breitbart News from within Google reveals that government requests for Google to censor content have nearly tripled since 2016, although it does not say that Google shouldn\u2019t cooperate.<\/p>\n<p>The briefing was the product of extensive research on the part of Google. This included expert interviews with MIT Tech Review editor-in-chief Jason Pontin,&nbsp;<em>Atlantic&nbsp;<\/em>staff writer and tech critic Franklin Foer, and academic Kalev Leetaru. 35 cultural observers and 7 cultural leaders from seven countries on five continents were consulted to produce it.
