Last month, <a href=\"https:\/\/losangeles.cbslocal.com\/2021\/10\/18\/cargo-ship-bottleneck-port-la-long-beach\/\">CBS Los Angeles<\/a> observed that trucking companies have been dumping empty containers in residential areas:<\/p>\n<p>With the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach now running 24\/7 operations, a new problem has occurred. Many of the shipping containers that spent weeks onboard ships waiting to be unloaded are now being dumped in nearby neighborhoods once they\u2019re emptied.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRight now with the ports and everything that\u2019s going on over there, we\u2019re stuck with the containers, having to bring them all to the yard, and we only have so much space,\u201d explained one trucking executive.<\/p>\n<p>As the supply chain backlogs persisted, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) started <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/desantis-to-the-rescue-floridas-created-incentive-packages-with-ports-to-solve-supply-chain-clog\">offering<\/a> incentive packages to shipping companies who unload cargo in Florida.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYear after year we continue to invest in our seaports, in infrastructure and in workforce education to make sure our supply chain is resilient,\u201d DeSantis said at a press conference. \u201cI\u2019m especially proud of Florida\u2019s seaports. They are crown jewels in our state.
