It became a basis for the \u201cRussia collusion\u201d investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Danchenko, who worked from 2005-10 with Democratic policy luminaries at the Brookings Institution, also worked with \u201cPR Executive-1,\u201d according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/s3.documentcloud.org\/documents\/21098456\/danchenko-indictment.pdf\">indictment<\/a>. Martin <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/11\/04\/durham-probe-analyst-tied-to-christopher-steele-trump-russia-dossier-arrested.html\">confirmed<\/a> to CNBC that \u201cPR Executive-1\u201d is, in fact, Dolan.<\/p>\n<p>CNBC noted that Dolan, a vice president at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kglobal.com\">KGlobal<\/a> communications firm, also has a history of involvement with the Clintons, chairing Bill Clinton\u2019s campaign in Virginia in both 1992 and 1996. His PR work includes Russia-related issues.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Durham\u2019s indictment suggests that Dolan introduced Danchenko to his Russian acquaintances, as Danchenko was reporting information to Steele. Those Russian acquaintances then allegedly provided some information Danchenko gave to Steele.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, Dolan had extensive contacts in the Russian government, met with Danchenko at the Russian embassy in Washington, D.C., in 2016 and traveled to Moscow with him that year.<\/p>\n<p>Ironically, the Clinton campaign would then accuse Trump of \u201ccollusion\u201d with Russia, even though neither he nor his aides had such contacts in Russia.<\/p>\n<p>According to the indictment, Dolan claimed that the Clinton campaign was unaware of his contacts with Danchenko and Russia. But \u201cPR Executive-1\u201d gave a Russian contact an autobiography of Hillary Clinton, which he signed: \u201cTo my good friend \u2026 A Great Democrat.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On another occasion, the same Russian \u201csub-source\u201d asked for Hillary\u2019s autograph; later, he boasted to another Russian associate that Dolan would&nbsp;\u201ctake me to the State&nbsp;Department if Hillary wins\u201d the election.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>Dolan also pretended that Republican sources were feeding information to him about then-campaign manager Paul Manafort (\u201cCampaign Manager-1\u201d), which Danchenko then apparently fed to contacts at the \u201cCompany\u201d (presumably, Fusion GPS).<\/p>\n<p>Dolan appears to have used Danchenko as a conduit for information he wished to plant with Fusion GPS \u2014 and then, perhaps, with the FBI and the media. Danchenko then allegedly lied to the FBI about the nature of his ties to Dolan.<\/p>\n<p>In one striking passage, the indictment says that Dolan and Danchenko were given a tour in 2016 of the Moscow hotel \u2014 including the presidential suite \u2014 where the \u201cpee\u201d dossier would later claim Trump had engaged the services of prostitutes, but the staff member who escorted them around the premises did not, in fact, \u201cmention any sexual or salacious activity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The indictment goes on to deconstruct allegedly misleading statements Danchenko made to the FBI, along with details about how the \u201cdossier\u201d was produced.<\/p>\n<p>George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley noted on Fox News on Thursday that the sheer level of detail hints at the depth of Durham\u2019s investigation, and <a href=\"https:\/\/jonathanturley.org\/2021\/11\/04\/igor-danchenko-arrested-as-part-of-durham-investigation\/#more-180294\">wrote<\/a> in an analysis of the indictment that Durham\u2019s exposition of the facts in the Danchenko case hints at future prosecutions: \u201cPotential apex targets above him in the investigation range from Steele himself to Clinton general counsel Marc Elias to Clinton campaign officials.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Joel B.
