Ron DeSantis (R-FL) will convene a special legislative session November 15 to create a safety net for workers fired over vaccine mandates.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFlorida needs new worker protections enshrined in the law,\u201d the governor\u2019s office exclusively told Breitbart News. \u201cWe are pleased that the leadership of the state legislature shares this objective and has proposed reforms that we are confident will protect Floridians\u2019 livelihoods and constitutional rights.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>The specifics of what the Republican-controlled legislature plans to propose still remain unknown. But DeSantis&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/cloudup.com\/cXiQC_GmcVL\">sent<\/a> a memo to the legislature in October, requesting that the safety net includes unemployment assistance, workers compensation, and non-compete exemptions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMandating the vaccine cannot stop the spread or ensure a COVID-free workplace, because vaccinated people can still get and spread the virus,\u201d DeSantis\u2019 office told Breitbart News. \u201cIt\u2019s clear that this mandate isn\u2019t about science or health \u2013 it\u2019s about control and social engineering.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While DeSantis has asked the legislature to create a safety net for unvaccinated employees who find themselves terminated, the legislature has not <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orlandosentinel.com\/politics\/os-ne-desantis-florida-gop-businesses-20211104-il2k3t4txjg2tfq2d7v7qvflly-story.html?fbclid=IwAR23MAWm6wEcOibhFb7m27z2-gMT6R57G3Iw7JHlAzoi9nAd2St_x9BY92E\">signaled<\/a> they will ban vaccine mandates on private businesses altogether, \u201cas Texas lawmakers tried and failed to do this month when faced with business opposition in that state,\u201d the <em>Tampa Bay Times<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tampabay.com\/news\/florida-politics\/2021\/10\/24\/what-do-florida-businesses-think-about-the-gops-attack-on-vaccine-mandates\/?fbclid=IwAR1922f-FDNW5CZkAfdICNmjYMsWtHOGqZXaPJdrvN2c5I0O-bkJUIvs0A0\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p class>\u201cWe\u2019ve always been against government mandating what business can do and can\u2019t do,\u201d executive director of the Florida Chamber of Commerce Mark Wilson told the <em>Times<\/em>. But \u201c[w]e\u2019re not asking for legislation,\u201d Wilson noted.<\/p>\n<p class>The Chamber is just \u201cinterested in the conversation\u201d during the special session, he said.<\/p>\n<p>Regardless of whether the Republican-controlled legislature, lead by state Rep. Chris Sprowls (R-<span class=\"text\">Palm Harbor<\/span>), acts on banning the mandates, DeSantis\u2019 office told Breitbart News the governor will challenge the orders in court, including Thursday\u2019s proposed rule by Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) that clarifies President Joe Biden\u2019s mandate.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"9.6337579617834\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis\u2019s (R) administration is following through with its repeated warnings and taking legal action against the Biden administration over coronavirus vaccine mandates, suing both President Biden and NASA on Thursday. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/5juP4p1NNZ\">https:\/\/t.co\/5juP4p1NNZ<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart News (@BreitbartNews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartNews\/status\/1453793979565215746?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 28, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The OSHA rule <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/11\/04\/joe-biden-administration-warns-of-planned-inspections-and-136532-fines-to-enforce-coronavirus-vaccine-mandate\/\">intends<\/a> to force nearly 100 million workers across the nation to get the jab. If employees do not <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/11\/04\/biden-administration-vaccine-mandate\/\">comply<\/a> with the mandate,&nbsp;companies with more than 100 employees will be fined $14,000 for each violation, which could increase to $136,532 for repeated violations, Breitbart News&nbsp;<a title=\"This external link will open in a new window\" href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/11\/04\/joe-biden-administration-warns-of-planned-inspections-and-136532-fines-to-enforce-coronavirus-vaccine-mandate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>The agency&nbsp;is also weighing how to expand the vaccine mandate to companies employing less than 100 workers. OSHA <a href=\"https:\/\/www.osha.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/publications\/OSHA4162.pdf\">noted<\/a>, however, they are \u201cless confident\u201d smaller companies could withstand losing employees due to forced vaccinations.<\/p>\n<p>DeSantis will not only sue OSHA for government overreach. The governor has already sued to protect federal contractors who work for Florida\u2019s aerospace&nbsp;sector.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe State of Florida has filed a lawsuit to challenge the Biden Administration\u2019s vaccine mandate for federal contractors, and Florida was the first state to do so,\u201d DeSantis\u2019 office told Breitbart. \u201cMany Floridians, particularly in the aerospace industry, work for federal contractors and have reported that their religious and medical exemptions are being rejected.
