Ivermectin is not listed as being approved to treat the COVID-19 in Japan.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The image shared on Instagram shows a screen grab of a headline from an Oct. 27 article published by the <a href=\"https:\/\/halturnerradioshow.com\/index.php\/en\/news-page\/world\/japan-drops-vax-rollout-goes-to-ivermectin-ends-covid-almost-overnight\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Hal Turner Radio Show<\/a> that reads, \u201cJapan drops vax rollout, goes to Ivermectin, ENDS COVID almost overnight.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/09\/30\/fact-check-video-french-doctor-arrested-prescribing-ivermectin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Does This Video Show A French Doctor Being Arrested For Prescribing Ivermectin?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There is, however, no evidence that Japan has stopped distributing or administering COVID-19 vaccines. The country continues to administer tens of thousands of doses of the various COVID-19 vaccines every day, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/graphics.reuters.com\/world-coronavirus-tracker-and-maps\/countries-and-territories\/japan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Reuter\u2019s vaccination tracker<\/a>, which notes that the Japanese government has so far administered over 190 million doses of the vaccines. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2021\/world\/covid-vaccinations-tracker.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The New York Times<\/a> reported Japan has fully vaccinated 73 percent of its population against COVID-19, with 78 percent of the population having received at least one dose, making it one of the most vaccinated countries in the world.<\/p>\n<p>Likewise, ivermectin, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/consumers\/consumer-updates\/why-you-should-not-use-ivermectin-treat-or-prevent-covid-19\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">drug<\/a> used to treat some parasitic diseases,&nbsp;has not been approved to treat COVID-19 in the country. It is not found on Japan\u2019s Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices Agency\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pmda.go.jp\/english\/about-pmda\/0002.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">list<\/a> of approved COVID-19 treatments. While <a href=\"https:\/\/abc13.com\/ivermectin-covid-treat-dr-joseph-varon-united-memorial-medical-center\/10976044\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">some<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ketv.com\/article\/omaha-doctor-touts-use-of-ivermectin-for-covid-19-treatment\/37148651\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">doctors<\/a> have touted the drug as an effective way to treat COVID-19, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration states <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/consumers\/consumer-updates\/why-you-should-not-use-ivermectin-treat-or-prevent-covid-19\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">on its website<\/a> that current data does not show the drug to be an effective treatment of COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>The notion that COVID-19 has been eradicated in Japan \u201calmost overnight\u201d is also inaccurate. While positive cases in the country are down significantly from summer highs, there are still hundreds of positive cases reported every day, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/asia-pacific\/japan-withdraws-16-mln-moderna-covid-19-vaccine-doses-over-contamination-nikkei-2021-08-25\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Reuters<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/halturnerradioshow.com\/index.php\/en\/news-page\/world\/japan-drops-vax-rollout-goes-to-ivermectin-ends-covid-almost-overnight\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Hal Turner Radio Show<\/a> article cites as evidence of its claims&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/asia.nikkei.com\/Spotlight\/Coronavirus\/COVID-vaccines\/1.6m-Moderna-doses-withdrawn-in-Japan-over-contamination\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">media<\/a>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/covid-19\/contaminated-pfizer-vaccines-reported-several-japanese-cities\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reports<\/a> about Japanese health authorities halting 1.6 million doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine over contamination concerns in August. This move came after unspecified containments were found in dozens of doses of the vaccine at eight locations across the country, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/08\/26\/world\/japan-moderna.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The New York Times<\/a>. There is, however, no evidence that this development led to the country halting all its COVID-19 vaccination efforts. COVID-19 vaccines produced by AstraZeneca and Pfizer, which are both <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pmda.go.jp\/english\/about-pmda\/0002.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">authorized<\/a> for use in Japan, were unaffected by the temporary suspension of the Moderna vaccine. Use of the Moderna vaccine, which is also authorized for use in Japan, has since resumed in the country, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.japantimes.co.jp\/news\/2021\/10\/14\/national\/science-health\/japan-men-under-30-pfizer-moderna\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Japan Times<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The article also cites comments made by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.or.jp\/english\/about_JMA\/trustees.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Haruo Ozaki<\/a>, chairman of the Tokyo Metropolitan Medical Association, who has recommended the use of ivermectin for treatment of COVID-19, according to the Japanese-language news website <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nikkei.com\/article\/DGXZQOFB25AAL0V20C21A1000000\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">nikkei.com<\/a>.
