Rand Paul fired back Thursday after Democratic Washington Sen. Patty Murray rebuked him for interrupting Dr. Anthony Fauci.<\/p>\n<p>Paul used his time to <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/11\/04\/rand-paul-demands-fauci-resign-gain-of-function\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">question<\/a> Fauci about his previous comments as well as his support for gain of function research and possible attempts to obscure that support by <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/07\/21\/giroir-defends-rand-paul-fauci-hiding-behind-technical-definitions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">changing the definition<\/a> of gain of function. When Paul\u2019s time had expired, Murray gave Fauci some time to rebut Paul\u2019s assertions. <strong><a class=\"text-black\" href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/08\/rand-paul-shreds-fauci-allegedly-lying-covid-19\/\">(RELATED: Rand Paul Accuses Fauci Of \u2018Lying Dozens Of Times\u2019 After Bombshell Report)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>WATCH:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere were so many things that are egregious misrepresentation here, Madam Chair, that I don\u2019t think I would be able to refute all of them,\u201d Fauci began, saying that he would take a moment to address a couple of <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/07\/20\/rand-paul-clashes-fauci-tense-capitol-hill-hearing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Paul\u2019s comments<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou said I\u2019m unwilling to take any responsibility for the current pandemic. I have no responsibility for the current pandemic. The current pandemic, okay?\u201d Fauci continued as Paul shook his head. \u201cNumber two, you said the overwhelming amount of evidence indicates that\u2019s a lab leak. I believe most card-carrying \u2026 molecular virologists would disagree with you. It is much more likely, even though we leave open all possibilities, much more likely it was a natural occurrence. Third, you say we \u2013\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou tested 80,000 animals and no animals have been found with COVID,\u201d Paul pushed back, noting that despite the best efforts of many, scientists had been thus far unable to find a single intermediate animal host. Murray quickly quieted him and allowed Fauci to continue.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd third, you made a statement just a moment ago that is completely incorrect where you say we continue to support research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology,\u201d Fauci said.<\/p>\n<p>Paul argued that Fauci had approved support for the lab in August of 202o, but Fauci protested, \u201cNo, your statement says quote, I wrote it down \u2026 \u2018You continue to support research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn your committee a month ago you said you still trust the Chinese scientists and you still support the research over there,\u201d Paul objected, interrupting again.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSenator Paul, I have allowed Dr. Fauci to respond,\u201d Murray chastised Paul. \u201cYou\u2019ve had your time, I\u2019m going to give him -\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf he is going to be dishonest, he ought to be challenged,\u201d Paul shot back.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSenator Paul, we will allow Dr. Fauci to respond after you\u2019ve given accusations like that,\u201d&nbsp;Murray turned back to Fauci to allow him to finish.<\/p>\n<p>Fauci said that he had already said what he wanted to say. \u201cAs usual \u2013 I have a great deal of respect for this body of the Senate and makes me very uncomfortable to have to say something, but he is egregiously incorrect in what he says,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHistory will figure that out on its own,\u201d Paul said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Republican Kentucky Sen.
