Justices considered New York\u2019s so-called \u201cproper cause law\u201d on Wednesday, which requires applicants to demonstrate a special need for self-defense to qualify for an unrestricted concealed carry license.<\/p>\n<p>Paul Clement, a former U.S. solicitor general representing two New York residents who were denied unrestricted carry licenses, argued the law violates the Second Amendment in that citizens need to satisfy a government official to exercise their constitutional right.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Many states, including New York, have overly stringent requirements that result in law-abiding Americans being denied their <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/2A?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#2A<\/a> rights.
