According to CNN, the Marshals\u2019 report found that water was being shutoff in many cells \u201cfor punitive reasons\u201d for days at a time, toilets were clogged, and an inmate who had been pepper-sprayed was \u201cunable to wash the spray off for days, leading to an infection.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The D.C. Department of Corrections staff were \u201cantagonizing detainees\u201d and \u201cdirecting detainees to not cooperate with\u201d U.S. Marshals during the inspection, the agency said, and \u201c[o]ne DOC staffer was observed telling a detainee to \u2018stop snitching.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Last month, Lamberth called for the Department of Justice to open a civil rights investigation into the matter and held two officials in contempt of court for delaying medical treatment to Worrell, the Daily Beast <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/furious-judge-finds-dc-jail-officials-in-contempt-for-abuse-of-jan-6-prisoner-christopher-worrell\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s more than just inept and bureaucratic shuffling of papers,\u201d Lamberth blasted. \u201cDoes no one care? Does no one follow up?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI find that the civil rights of the defendant have been abused,\u201d the judge asserted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring the hearing, Lamberth said that jail officials failed to turn over critical information that was needed to approve surgery for the accused rioter\u2019s broken wrist\u2014even though the medical procedure was recommended four months ago,\u201d the report noted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know if it\u2019s because he\u2019s a January 6th defendant or not, but I find this matter should be referred to the attorney general of the United States for a civil rights investigation into whether the D.C.
