Joe Manchin (D-WV) said the election results on Tuesday have emboldened him to ensure the reconciliation bill doesn\u2019t harm the economy, inflation isn\u2019t transitory, \u201cAnd then we have a geopolitical fallout from Afghanistan that we\u2019re going to have to deal with sooner or later somewhere in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Manchin stated, [relevant remarks begin around 2:50] \u201cWell, if you don\u2019t take in[to] consideration what people are going through at the gas pumps and at the grocery stores, the inflation that\u2019s coming, at first, we thought it was transitory. If you recall, Bret, about a month or more ago I said, let\u2019s take a strategic pause. Let\u2019s see where we are. We don\u2019t know about COVID. It kept \u2014 the variants of COVID kept going up and down. We weren\u2019t sure whether it was going to have an effect on our economy. They kept saying, well, this inflationary thing is basically going to be maybe transitory, and we\u2019re finding out it\u2019s not. And then we have a geopolitical fallout from Afghanistan that we\u2019re going to have to deal with sooner or later somewhere in the world. And I said, the need that we have right now of all the aspirational things in the reconciliation bill, most of that is covered in the ARP bill with the American Rescue Plan that we voted [on] in January.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>He added, \u201cWe have people covered clear up through 2022 and beyond. So, it wasn\u2019t like it\u2019s urgent, and I don\u2019t know why we\u2019re acting like it\u2019s so urgent.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Host Bret Baier then asked, \u201cSo, does this result last night embolden you to make sure that the Build Back Better or the reconciliation bill does no harm to the economy?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Manchin responded, \u201cOh, absolutely. \u2026 I\u2019m concerned. I\u2019ve been talking about our debt. I\u2019ve been talking about inflation.
