Todd D. Kaminsky by a margin of 155,554 to 102,666, according to unofficial election results from Nassau County\u2019s website. Donnelly, a career local prosecutor, secured 60 percent of the vote as opposed to Kaminsky\u2019s 40 percent.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"5.3543307086614\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Nassau\u2019s new District Attorney Anne Donnelly! <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/bbzMx5fPcX\">pic.twitter.com\/bbzMx5fPcX<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Assemblyman Ed Ra (@EdwardRa19) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EdwardRa19\/status\/1455735394541187076?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 3, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Kaminsky <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2021\/11\/03\/republican-candidates-for-district-attorney-in-nassau-and-suffolk-win-elections\/\">voted<\/a> for the bail reform law that did away with cash bail for defendants facing \u201cmany misdemeanor and \u2018non-violent felony\u2019 crimes,\u201d according to the <em>New York Post<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Democrats made adjustments to the law after public outcry about the reforms and disapproval from law enforcement as suspects and defendants carried out alleged crimes immediately after being released, according to the <em>Post<\/em>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>One man was arrested three times in one day in February of 2020 due to the law, Breitbart News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2020\/02\/19\/nnew-york-bail-reform-man-arrested-three-times-in-one-day-for-assault\/\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Donnelly\u2019s campaign dubbed Kaminsky \u201cTurn \u2018Em Loose\u2019 Todd\u201d for his support of the law, according to the <em>New York Post<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<span>Thank you for caring enough about Nassau County to want to keep it safe, and thanks for backing the candidate who backs the blue,\u201d Donnelly <a href=\"https:\/\/longisland.news12.com\/candidates-for-nassau-county-executive-da-await-results\">said<\/a> in her victory speech, according to News 12 Long Island.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThe voters are sending a message. Safety first. Our children and families come first,\u201d Donnelly said in an early Wednesday interview, according to the <em>Post<\/em>.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Republicans have taken home the Suffolk County district attorney election as well, another race in which bail reform was a forefront issue, the <em>Post<\/em> reports. Republican Ray Tierney toppled Democrat incumbent Tim Sini by a margin of 145,933 to 109,060, according to the <em>New York Post<\/em>. Blakeman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nassaucountyny.gov\/571\/Election-Results\">leads<\/a> Democrat incumbent Laura Curran by a margin of 135,842 to 124,008, according to unofficial election results from Nassau County\u2019s website. Former State Sen. Elaine Phillips (R) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nassaucountyny.gov\/571\/Election-Results\">secured<\/a> 154,787 votes beating Democratic candidate Ryan Cronin who earned 99,811 votes according to unofficial election results from Nassau County\u2019s website.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was not a particularly good night,\u201d said Nassau County Democratic leader Jay Jacobs, according to the <em>New York Post<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRepublicans are always very good at scaring voters,\u201d Jacobs stated according to the Post. \u201cIn this case, they used bail reform to mislead the voters and scare the voters.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLong Island is very much like the rest of the country: There was a red wave,\u201d Jacobs <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/11\/03\/nyregion\/republican-election-results-new-york.html\">said<\/a> according to the <em>New York Times<\/em>. \u201cRepublicans were energized because they\u2019re angry and they\u2019re unhappy with the direction of the country. We saw that in polls. Democrats are disheartened and unenthusiastic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Post<\/em> reports Dean of Hofstra University\u2019s National Center for Suburban Studies Lawrence Levy stated, \u201cDonald Trump is no longer on the ballot.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a red tsunami. It\u2019s a complete wipeout.
