They\u2019re hands-on parents. They are extremely involved in school. They are extremely involved in counseling.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cSo everything these girls need, these parents are able to provide,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe decided it would be nice to give back,\u201d Thomas said, per the <em>Vindicator<\/em>. \u201cIt made sense. Just to give these kids the best possible chance to achieve in life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Thomas Souffrain <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wkbn.com\/news\/local-news\/families-celebrate-officially-adopt-their-children-in-youngstown\/\">spoke<\/a> to the evolution of his relationship with his three new daughters in an interview with WKBN.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019ve grown on me. Now they\u2019re no longer foster kids. They weren\u2019t just my foster kids \u2014 it\u2019s more like they are like my girls, now,\u201d he told WKBN.<\/p>\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Families celebrate, officially adopt their children in Youngstown\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/oAVW_NDWZDo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>One of the children, Myra, told WKBN how excited she was for her special day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m very excited because I\u2019m getting adopted,\u201d Myra told WKBN.<\/p>\n<p>Thomas says the girls have endured a tumultuous past to get to the point they are at now, which was one of the factors as to why he and Zipporah wanted to officially adopt them, according to WKBN.<\/p>\n<p>Zipporah recalled watching a video of the girls that prompted their consideration about becoming foster parents to the children.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI watched the video of the girls and got all misty-eyed. When we both watched the video, we both had tears in our eyes,\u201d she said per the <em>Vindicator<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>As the legal process has come to an end and the five are officially a family, Thomas says the new family can work to achieve a sense of \u201cnormalcy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd second of all, we can kind of get to a normalcy, our normalcy of just being a family. Just us \u2014 opposed to having the intrusion of others coming into our home,\u201d Thomas told WKBN.<\/p>\n<p>Judge Robert Rusu stated, \u201cI like to say that the three young ladies and the adoptive parents are all lucky because they all found one another.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It is most fitting that the girls were adopted on the first day of National Adoption Awareness Month. The beginnings of Adoption Awareness Month <a href=\"https:\/\/www.childwelfare.gov\/topics\/adoption\/nam\/about\/history\/\">started<\/a> with former Massachusetts Gov. Michael Dukakis in 1976 when he established adoption awareness week, according to childwelfare.gov. Eight years later in 1984, President Ronald Reagan founded the initial National Adoption Week.
