In 2015, COP21 happened in Paris, which <a href=\"https:\/\/unfccc.int\/process-and-meetings\/the-paris-agreement\/the-paris-agreement\">gave<\/a> the world the infamous Paris climate&nbsp;agreement.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>One of the ways the U.N. recommends limiting global warming to below two degrees is moving from eating red meat and dairy products in exchange for a plant-based diet. (Photo by Ian Forsyth\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>A 2018 Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) special report on climate change said, \u201cMeat analogues such as imitation meat (from plant products), cultured meat, and insects may help in the transition to more healthy and sustainable diets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition, many popular Democrat politicians in the United States have adopted the U.N.\u2019s view on eating meat. For example, former President Barack Obama warned that eating meat raises climate emissions. \u201cPeople aren\u2019t as familiar with the impact of cows and methane,\u201d Obama&nbsp;<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/big-government\/2017\/05\/09\/barack-obama-eating-more-steaks-contributes-to-climate-change\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>&nbsp;in 2018, adding that, \u201cas people want to increase more meat consumption, that in turn is spiking the growth of greenhouse emissions coming out of the agricultural sector.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Green New Deal co-sponsor Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY)&nbsp;<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.eater.com\/2019\/3\/1\/18246220\/aoc-green-deal-burgers-backlash-creepshot\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>&nbsp;in 2019, \u201cwe\u2019ve got to address factory farming. Maybe we shouldn\u2019t be eating a hamburger for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Like, let\u2019s keep it real.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On the 2020 campaign trail, Vice President Kamala Harris&nbsp;<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/kamala-harris-urges-americans-reduce-red-meat-help-save-earth-despite-saying-i-love-1457770\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>, \u201cYes, I would,\u201d when asked what changes she would make to the food pyramid. The&nbsp;<em>New York Times<\/em>&nbsp;even&nbsp;<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2018\/03\/17\/opinion\/sunday\/carbon-tax-on-beef.html?smid=tw-nytopinion&amp;smtyp=cur\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">proposed<\/a>&nbsp;a \u201ccarbon tax on beef\u201d at one point.<\/p>\n<p>In April 2021, President Joe Biden announced his goal to cut emissions by 50 percent by 2030. There were rumors that Biden\u2019s plan would likely mirror a Michigan University study that found emissions could be lowered if Americans cut their red meat consumption by 90 percent.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"4.8316831683168\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Not gonna happen in Texas! <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/zqYS9kH8CU\">pic.twitter.com\/zqYS9kH8CU<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Greg Abbott (@GregAbbott_TX) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GregAbbott_TX\/status\/1386433630747070468?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 25, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Conservative politicians were outraged at this rumored suggestion, which led to the Biden administration clearing the record.
