Governor-elect Winsome Sears laid down a challenge Wednesday for MSNBC host Joy Reid.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/11\/03\/winsome-sears-kamala-harris-virginia-glenn-youngkin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sears<\/a> objected to <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/11\/03\/msnbc-rachel-maddow-joy-reid-nicole-wallace-critical-race-theory-youngkin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Reid\u2019s claims<\/a> that white supremacy had played a role in deciding the statewide elections in Virginia \u2013 which also saw Republican <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/11\/02\/glenn-youngkin-terry-mcauliffe-virginia-governor-election-2021\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Glenn Youngkin<\/a> beat out veteran Democrat Terry McAuliffe for the governorship \u2013 telling Fox News host Martha MacCallum that she\u2019d like to address the question face to face with Reid. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/11\/03\/winsome-sears-virginia-governor-usa-chant-speech\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Newly Elected Va. Lt. Gov. Winsome: \u2018There Are Some Who Want To Divide Us, And We Must Not Let That Happen\u2019)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>WATCH:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cLast night you said I am black, if you have not noticed and then you said but it\u2019s not about that,\u201d MacCallum began, noting that Sears was the first black woman to be the Lieutenant Governor of Virginia. \u201cWhat did you mean by that?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause we are framing too many issues in terms of race. It continues to divide us. Politicians are using it as a tool because of the things that happened to us historically to advance, I would think, their nefarious purposes,\u201d Sears replied, arguing that it was past time to stop looking at race and start looking at people.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am destroying all of the narratives about race. Look at me! Look at me! I am a heartbeat away from the governorship in case anything happens to the governor. How are you going to tell me I am a victim,\u201d Sears continued, sharing some of her own personal story and adding, \u201cYou are looking at the American dream! So we can do better.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>MacCallum then pivoted to Reid\u2019s comments, sharing a short clip of the MSNBC host\u2019s reaction to election returns.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou have to be willing to vocalize that these Republicans are dangerous. That this is not a party that is just another political party that disagrees with us on tax policy. They are dangerous to our national security,\u201d Reid said, arguing that Republicans were \u201cstoking white nationalism.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour reaction?\u201d MacCallum turned back to Sears.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wish Joy Reid would invite me on her show. Let\u2019s see if she is woman enough to do that. I would go in a heartbeat and we will have a real discussion without Joy speaking about me behind my back,\u201d Sears challenged. \u201cI mean, come on, Joy, get your facts straight and then come talk to me.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Republican Virginia Lt.
