In the other clip, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Y5eo5-cJt0U\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">which is genuine<\/a>, the New Zealand prime minister speaks with Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates at a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gatesfoundation.org\/goalkeepers\/report\/2019-report\/\/#ClimateAdaptation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation event<\/a> in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNEW ZEALANDS PRIME MINISTER SMOKING CRACK,\u201d reads the caption of the Facebook post. The tweet includes a similar caption. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/05\/07\/fact-check-new-zealand-government-public-broadcaster-censor-anti-government-comments-social-media\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Did New Zealand\u2019s Government Tell A Public Broadcaster To Censor Anti-Government Comments On Its Social Media Platforms?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Through a keyword search, Check Your Fact found the video of Ardern supposedly smoking posted on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=tn3HltHq70I\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">YouTube<\/a> by the channel Genuine Fake back in October 2020. On the channel\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UChWnnD7jbDw4YsB0DF--nKw\/about\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u201cAbout\u201d page<\/a>, it states that it posts \u201cDeepfake models of Celebrities\/ Politicians.\u201d A \u201cdeepfake\u201d is a realistic-looking but fake video produced using artificial intelligence, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/deepfake-artificial-intelligence-60-minutes-2021-10-10\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CBS\u2019 \u201c60 Minutes.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?app=desktop&amp;v=86HKFWNtfsY&amp;has_verified=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">video<\/a> posted on YouTube in May 2019 shows a background that matches the one visible in the \u201cdeepfake\u201d video, but it features a different woman. In the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?app=desktop&amp;v=86HKFWNtfsY&amp;has_verified=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">video<\/a>, the woman does <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vox.com\/2015\/7\/15\/8965393\/asmr-video-youtube-autonomous-sensory-meridian-response\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ASMR<\/a> and smokes marijuana from a glass pipe. That video looks to have been used as a base for the creation of the \u201cdeepfake\u201d one.<\/p>\n<p>During a debate in 2020, Ardern admitted to having used cannabis \u201ca long time ago,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2020\/10\/01\/world\/asia\/jacinda-ardern-cannabis-new-zealand.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The New York Times<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A video shared on Twitter and Facebook purportedly shows\u00a0New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern smoking from a pipe.
