As illegal arrivals have shot up, the proportion of arrests has gone the other way, with zero returns reported this year of those who have come through, and set sail from, safe countries to get here.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMeanwhile, the British people look on in utter disbelief as one Home Secretary after another fails to get a grip of an ever-worsening situation.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"6.5923566878981\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Operations in the Channel are still ongoing. Tomorrow\u2019s numbers could be huge. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/EdXjuk2jBT\">pic.twitter.com\/EdXjuk2jBT<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Nigel Farage (@Nigel_Farage) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Nigel_Farage\/status\/1455647593598496774?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 2, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>While Home Secretary Priti Patel&nbsp;\u2014 the government minister tasked with controlling immigration \u2014 had vowed to \u201ctake back control\u201d of Britain\u2019s borders following Brexit, the government has in fact cut immigration enforcement spending by&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2021\/09\/29\/boris-johnsons-govt-cut-immigration-enforcement-spending-by-40m-as-migrant-crisis-escalated\/\">\u00a340 million<\/a>&nbsp;over the past two years alone.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>Last month, the Home Secretary&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/committees.parliament.uk\/oralevidence\/2914\/html\/\">admitted<\/a> that 70 per cent of the boat migrants who arrived over the past year have been young, single men, which she conceded means they are in fact \u201ceconomic migrants\u201d and not \u201cgenuine asylum seekers\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Despite this, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.itv.com\/news\/meridian\/2021-07-08\/migrants-crossing-the-channel-to-claim-asylum-will-no-longer-be-prosecuted\">said<\/a> that they will not be prosecuting migrants who cross the Channel and claim asylum, 98 per cent of whom do so.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Legislation pending in Parliament would increase penalties for people-smugglers as well as expand the definition of who should be classified as illegally entering the country to include those taken ashore by the Border Force.<\/p>\n<p>It remains to be seen if the CPS will actually begin prosecuting illegal migrants after the Borders bill is passed, however.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"6.7215189873418\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Cost of Housing Asylum Seekers Jumps 42 Per Cent to \u00a31.4 Billion in Britain <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/orteiTmXmk\">https:\/\/t.co\/orteiTmXmk<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart London (@BreitbartLondon) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartLondon\/status\/1433412642853490692?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 2, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B4\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>At the Conservative Party conference in Manchester last month, the Priti Patel claimed that the government would finally look to implement a \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2021\/10\/05\/priti-patel-says-uk-military-will-turn-back-the-boats-to-stop-migrant-crisis\/\">turn back the boats<\/a>\u201d approach and send boat migrants back to France \u2014 a safe and prosperous EU member-state from which they have no legitimate reason to flee.<\/p>\n<p>Commenting on Tuesday evening, Brexit leader Nigel Farage <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=4Be-BmSvwoM\">said<\/a> that \u201cit\u2019s all well and good for Priti Patel and Boris Johnson to stand up at the Tory Party conference and get the cheers of the delegates but it all means nothing because the economic pull factors are still there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He warned that, as things stand, \u201cthere is absolutely no end in sight\u201d to the Channel migrant crisis.<\/p>\n<p>In July, the Home Office agreed to send&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2021\/07\/21\/uk-agrees-to-pay-france-55m-to-stop-boat-migrants\/\">another<\/a>&nbsp;\u00a354.2 million to France to step up border patrols on the French coast against illegal migration, on top of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2020\/11\/29\/shakedown-boris-govt-pay-france-28m-to-start-stopping-more-boat-migrants\/\">\u00a328 million<\/a>&nbsp;in payoffs sent last November. The government is currently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2021\/09\/08\/empty-talk-uk-threatens-to-withhold-payoff-money-if-france-doesnt-stop-migrants-as-another-740-land17828010\/\">withholding<\/a> the latest payoff until more enforcement is seen.<\/p>\n<p>It is estimated that there are currently thousands of migrants gathered near the beaches of France to make the journey to the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n<p>As with issues between the UK and EU such as French fishing rights in the English Channel and the Northern Ireland Protocol, however, the French have so far been unwilling to come to an agreement on the return of illegal migrants.<\/p>\n<p>The former chief of the Border Force, Tony Smith,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=4Be-BmSvwoM\">told<\/a> GB News: \u201cThe only way to reverse this trend to stop the boats is to break the business model which means we have to send people back to France.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"6.7784810126582\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Farage Asks Where\u2019s The MSM?
