Such an approach implicitly suggests that \u201cwhite\u201d children who succeed should feel guilty as they have ostensibly received an illegitimate benefit as part of a racially rigged system. Conversely, students of color are immersed in the pernicious narrative that race is a significant or even primary limitation on their ability to succeed in school and, by extension, the wider society. Under this race-obsessed viewpoint, failure becomes a self-fulfilling prophesy.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>As independent media outlet AlphaNews reported on October 8, Theien-Collins <a href=\"https:\/\/alphanews.org\/school-staff-begin-meetings-by-committing-to-dismantling-whiteness\/\">told<\/a> the school board all meetings will begin with the school\u2019s statement of its commitment to a \u201cvision of equity.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Theien-Collins stated this \u201cvision of equity\u201d is used \u201cin all programs, all decisions, [and] all policies,\u201d and is as follows:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"9\">\n<p>At Richfield High School we believe in providing a rigorous and equitable education reflecting the strengths and experiences of our community. We believe students learn best when they feel safe and affirmed in who they are. Therefore, we commit to dismantling policies and processes that benefit whiteness and other systems of privilege.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"8.2325581395349\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">AG Merrick Garland\u2019s son-in-law is a co-founder of a company that promotes the tenets of Critical Race Theory, including systemic racism. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/kHplgBhqvx\">https:\/\/t.co\/kHplgBhqvx<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart News (@BreitbartNews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartNews\/status\/1446198950315405322?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 7, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cYour commitment to \u2018dismantling policies and processes that benefit whiteness\u2019 implicitly and erroneously assumes inequality of outcome as sufficient proof of an inequitable process,\u201d Kirsanow wrote to Theien-Collins and added:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"12\">\n<p>It begs the question: Should every system which produces unequal outcomes, as measured across some artificially defined racial categories, be dismantled? If so, I fear our entire sports entertainment complex, from the NBA to the NFL, is not long for this new world.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Kirsanow voiced concern about RHS\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/innocentclassroom.com\/\">use<\/a> of the Innocent Classrooms program, which touts it is \u201con a mission to dismantle racial bias.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"View Kirsanow Letter to Richfield High School 11.1.2021 on Scribd\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scribd.com\/document\/536801084\/Kirsanow-Letter-to-Richfield-High-School-11-1-2021#from_embed\">Kirsanow Letter to Richfield High School 11.1.2021<\/a> by <a title=\"View Breitbart News&#039;s profile on Scribd\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scribd.com\/publisher\/298980670\/Breitbart-News#from_embed\">Breitbart News<\/a> on Scribd<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cAs you know, Innocent Classrooms trains teachers to build relationships that liberate students of color \u2018from the power of racial stereotypes in their schools and classrooms,\u2019\u201d he wrote. \u201cWhile fostering healthy teacher-student relationships is undoubtedly a laudable goal, this educational strategy rests upon a faulty premise.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Kirsanow observed Innocent Classrooms founder Alexs Pate described students of color as:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"12\">\n<p>\u2026 being held in virtual bondage to the negative stereotypes that our culture has developed and perpetuated about them. These define our children as threatening, violent, criminal, poor, and academically disengaged and they are internalized by many children as guilt before they enter the school door\u2026 This script is the reason for the achievement gap and other disparities of the education system.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201c[I]t would seem that this program has devised a new stereotype of its own,\u201d Kirsanow observed. \u201c[A]ny program that instructs teachers to view students of a certain race as held in \u2018virtual bondage\u2019 or ridden with \u2018internalized \u2026 &nbsp;guilt\u2019 necessarily engenders a racially discriminatory environment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The commissioner said the program ultimately \u201cencourages teachers to walk on eggshells, avoid difficult discussions, and treat certain students differently to compensate for perceived racial stereotypes.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B4\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"7.3125\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Parents and families are realizing how pervasive and widespread the Left&#8217;s Critical Race Theory (CRT) agenda truly is.  <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/j7maOd9jLT\">https:\/\/t.co\/j7maOd9jLT<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart News (@BreitbartNews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartNews\/status\/1410045140610211842?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 30, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Kirsanow also noted to the RHS principal her school\u2019s \u201cvision of equity\u201d may \u201cvery well run afoul of federal civil right law.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He observed that, because RHS receives abundant federal funding, the school is \u201cobligated to comply with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964,\u201d which states, \u201cno person in the United States shall, on the ground of race, color, or national origin, be <em>excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subject to discrimination<\/em> under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDismantling an otherwise neutral system just because too many people of a particular race succeed under that system is discriminatory,\u201d the commissioner asserted. \u201cTreating students differently because of supposed racial burdens is discriminatory.
