These are followed by taxes and the coronavirus, coming out ahead of abortion.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Terry McAuliffe (D) voters largely held a positive view of the economy, while roughly 60 percent of Glenn Youngkin (R) voters viewed the economy negatively.<\/p>\n<p>An MSNBC exit poll also showed that 53 percent of voters had a favorable view of Youngkin, while only 44 percent had a favorable view of McAuliffe. However, the issue should have little impact on the overall election, with CBS News reporting that voters placed the coronavirus fourth on their list of pressing issues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn terms of issue importance, the coronavirus pandemic comes in fourth \u2013 behind the economy, education, and taxes,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/live-updates\/election-day-2021-results-virginia-governor-new-jersey\/#post-update-8e04609c\">noted CBS<\/a>. \u201cMcAuliffe\u2019s backers are about eight times as likely as Youngkin\u2019s to say the coronavirus is the most important issue facing Virginia.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"8.9542483660131\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Virginia Exit Polling: Who Do You Trust To Handle Covid:<\/p>\n<p>McAuliffe: 43%<br \/>Youngkin: 36%<br \/>Both: 5%<\/p>\n<p>-MSNBC Exit-<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Polling USA (@USA_Polling) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/USA_Polling\/status\/1455644449413939210?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 2, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Youngkin also held a slight edge over McAuliffe on the issue of education, with \u201cjust over half of voters\u201d believing that&nbsp; \u201cparents should have a lot of say in what is taught in their child\u2019s school,\u201d according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/live-updates\/election-day-2021-results-virginia-governor-new-jersey\/#post-update-527b97b7\">CBS,&nbsp;<\/a>adding:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"8\">\n[Youngkin] supporters are particularly likely to think so&nbsp; \u2013 8 in 10 think they should have \u2018a lot\u2019 of say.&nbsp; Only a quarter of McAuliffe voters say that. Pre-election polls found this issue has energized many Republicans.
