Text overlaying the clip reads, \u201cBiden to Pope: \u2018You\u2019re the famous African-American baseball player in America.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The short video clip, however, does not accurately capture the entire interaction. While it\u2019s difficult to hear the first part of Biden\u2019s comment, <a href=\"https:\/\/transcripts.cnn.com\/show\/nday\/date\/2021-10-29\/segment\/08\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">transcripts<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=WroZOfxsXE4&amp;t=337s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">extended<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.c-span.org\/video\/?515710-101\/president-biden-meets-pope-francis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">footage<\/a> of the exchange indicate he was referencing <a href=\"https:\/\/baseballhall.org\/hall-of-famers\/paige-satchel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Paige<\/a>, a pitcher who joined the MLB in his 40s and was later inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1971.<\/p>\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"See what happened inside the Vatican during Biden meeting\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/WroZOfxsXE4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<p>A transcript of a <a href=\"https:\/\/transcripts.cnn.com\/show\/CPT\/date\/2021-10-29\/segment\/01\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u201cCuomo Prime Time\u201d episode<\/a> featuring the interaction between Biden and the pope quoted the president as saying, \u201cThere\u2019s a famous African American baseball player in America.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd he didn\u2019t get to play in the Major League Baseball until he was 45 years old because he was black. And he was a pitcher, he threw the ball. Usually pitchers lose their arm when they\u2019re 35. He pitched a win on his 47th birthday,\u201d Biden went on to say during his exchange with the pope, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.c-span.org\/video\/?515710-101\/president-biden-meets-pope-francis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">footage<\/a> on C-SPAN. \u201cThe press walked into the locker room, and said \u2013 his name was Satchel Paige. They came in, and they said, \u2018Satch, no one\u2019s ever pitched a win at age 47. How do you feel about pitching a win on your birthday?&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden then attributed the following quote to Satchel: \u201cBoys, that\u2019s not how I look at age.
