Kyrsten Sinema, a centrist Democrat who had previously <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/20\/internal-defections-democrats-plan-lower-drug-prices-major-peril\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">held out on efforts to lower prices<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[Sinema] welcomes a new agreement on a historic, transformative Medicare drug negotiation plan,\u201d said communications director John LaBombard in a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/sahilkapur\/status\/1455607128308256773\/photo\/1\">statement<\/a>, who added that it would \u201creduce out-of-pocket costs for seniors \u2014 ensuring drug prices cannot rise faster than inflation \u2014 save taxpayer dollars, and protect innovation.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/01\/lower-drug-costs-democrats-battle-big-pharma-fellow-members-chuck-schumer-medicare\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: In Bid To Lower Drug Costs, Dems Prepare To Battle Big Pharma \u2014 And Some Of Their Own)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7297215\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\" readability=\"32\">\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-7297215\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sen. Chris Murphy <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ChrisMurphyCT\/status\/1455605972555247624\">called<\/a> it \u201ca really good deal for patients\u201d and that it \u201ccuts drug costs, ends price gouging, and finally, finally allows Medicare to negotiate directly with the drug industry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The agreement comes as top Democratic leaders have said that a compromise on the overall bill could happen \u201cby the end of the day\u201d Tuesday. An agreement could mark the end of months of public disagreements between the Democratic Party\u2019s moderate and left wings, and could clear a path for the House to vote on the bipartisan infrastructure bill this week, a top priority for moderates including Sinema and West Virginia Sen.
