This includes \u00a3300,000 in advertising revenue from Saudi Arabia\u2019s national oil company, Aramco, in the last year, alone, <em>The Guardian<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/environment\/2021\/nov\/02\/bbc-earns-300000-from-saudi-oil-firm-despite-net-zero-pledge\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>BP, formerly&nbsp;The British Petroleum Company, Exelon, and Phillips 66 are other major fossil fuel firms reported to have spent at least five figures in advertising contracts with the BBC.<\/p>\n<p>While the broadcaster does not run advertisements in Britain, relying on the licence fee imposed on virtually all live television viewers, regardless of whether or not they consume BBC content, their overseas operations are propped up by revenue from ads.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWe have clear guidelines around advertising which are publicly available,\u201d a BBC spokesman insisted, adding that they \u201ctake care with all of our advertising to ensure it is not misleading.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In October, the BBC announced a \u201cdeep decarbonisation\u201d strategy to cut out the use of fossil fuels throughout its operations in order to hit its net-zero target by the year 2030. It is unclear if this \u201cdecarbonisation\u201d will include the broadcaster giving up ad revenue from oil companies.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"7.0751445086705\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\u2018Taxpayer-Funded Indoctrination\u2019: Farage Slams BBC Children\u2019s Show for Anti-Meat Message <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/lSaBvCjExL\">https:\/\/t.co\/lSaBvCjExL<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart London (@BreitbartLondon) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartLondon\/status\/1382320483907952641?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 14, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Despite its legally mandated purpose as a politically neutral broadcaster, the Beeb \u2014 as the broadcaster is colloquially known \u2014 has taken a firm political position on the supposed climate crisis, going so far as to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.co.uk\/article\/bbc-freezes-out-climate-sceptics-fqhqmrfs6\">ban climate change sceptics<\/a> from its airwaves in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>More recently, the BBC has entered into partnerships with the SNP-led Scottish government and an American retail giant to produce documentaries centred around climate change.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>The bias of the broadcaster was put on full display during an interview with Prime Minister Boris Johnson during the COP26 climate summit in Glasgow this week, with BBC Chief Environment correspondent Justin Rowlatt drawing criticism for berating the British leader for allegedly being \u201cweaselly\u201d on the issue of coal-fired power plants.<\/p>\n<p>During the summit, the BBC has had wall-to-wall coverage, with an analysis conducted by the Westminster gossip site <em>Guido Fawkes<\/em> finding that the BBC\u2019s news website featured 14 articles covering the climate summit on its front page on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The site <a href=\"https:\/\/order-order.com\/2021\/11\/01\/bbcs-flop26-cop26\/\">noted<\/a>, however, that the coverage failed to reflect the actual interest of the British public \u2014 which funds the broadcaster through the licence fee \u2014 as its top ten most-read articles had nothing to do with climate change.<\/p>\n<p>The BBC was not alone amongst the liberal mainstream media to have profited from fossil fuel cash, with MediaRadar reporting that, since 2016, the <em>New York Times<\/em> took $4.5m in fossie fuel ads, alongside $6.6m for CNN,<em>&nbsp;<\/em>$9.5m for&nbsp;<em>POLITICO<\/em>, and $12.8m for the Jeff Bezos-owned&nbsp;<em>Washington Post<\/em>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"9.2450142450142\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">This isn&#8217;t journalism;
