So, the only remedy left to protect the unions\u2019 right to meaningful arbitration is to stay in compliance with the December 31 vaccination requirement until such time as the arbitration is complete.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The order only applies to the police union <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/judge-halts-chicago-vaccine-mandate-police-union\">after it motioned<\/a> for a restraining order to force arbitration last week, not other city employees.<\/p>\n<p>Lightfoot said the judge\u2019s ruling actually validates her mandate; the ruling comes after U.S. District Judge&nbsp;John Lee \u201cdenied a temporary restraining order requested by more than 100 Chicago city workers, including firefighters,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/abc7chicago.com\/covid-vaccine-chicago-mandate-police-illinois\/11179689\/\">reported <\/a>ABC.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cIf you look at what\u2019s happening in court cases all across the country, whether it\u2019s fire and police or others that are challenging these mandates, I\u2019m not aware of a single instance in which a mandate put in place has been invalidated,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/abc7chicago.com\/covid-vaccine-chicago-mandate-police-illinois\/11187933\/\">Lightfoot said<\/a> on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The Fraternal Order of Police expressed enthusiasm over Monday\u2019s ruling while admitting there were issues to work out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re simply asking this judge to force the city to stop their policy, put officers back to work, and force the city to go back to the bargaining table and arbitration,\u201d FOP President John Catanzare Jr.&nbsp;said of the lawsuit.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Lori Lightfoot <a href=\"https:\/\/abc7chicago.com\/covid-vaccine-chicago-mandate-police-illinois\/11179689\/\">has accused<\/a> the unvaccinated of \u201cplaying Russian roulette\u201d with their lives and the lives in their community:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"11\">\n<p>The people that are not vaccinated are playing Russian roulette with their lives and they are playing Russian roulette with their families, their neighborhoods, and the people in this city who have a right to believe that when someone shows up from city government to their door, they are there to help them and save their live and not imperil it.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Law enforcement officials across the country have warned that city vaccine mandates could lead to a shortage of officers, prolonging emergency response times, and increasing city crime.<\/p>\n<p>Los Angeles Sheriff Alex Villanueva <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/10\/31\/la-county-sheriff-alex-villanueva-warns-mass-exodus-staff-shortage-city-vaccine-mandate\/\">said last week:<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"12\">\n<p>I have repeatedly stated the dangers to public safety when 20%-30% of my workforce is no longer available to provide service, and those dangers are quickly becoming a reality. We are experiencing an increase in unscheduled retirements, worker compensation claims, employees quitting, and a reduction in qualified applicants.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>During an interview on&nbsp;Fox News Radio last week,&nbsp;Andrew Ansbro,&nbsp;head of New York City\u2019s firefighters\u2019 union, warned that Mayor Bill de Blasio\u2019s vaccine mandate will plunge the city into chaos.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe staffing just is not there; there\u2019s no way to do it,\u201d Ansbro&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/10\/27\/new-york-fire-department-union-vaccine-mandates-plunge-city-chaos\/\">said<\/a>. \u201cThe response times are going to go through the roof.
