Jonathan Barker, who leads Grace Lutheran Church in Kenosha, said \u201cit will set a dangerous precedent for people\u2019s rights to free speech and assembly\u201d if Rittenhouse is not convicted, NPR <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2021\/11\/01\/1050413087\/jury-selection-trial-kyle-rittenhouse\">reported<\/a> Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have deep concerns about how this will go, and I\u2019ve been disappointed,\u201d Barker said. \u201cI am ready for anything. But I want to be a person of hope as a Christian and as a pastor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The pastor was allegedly told to \u201cstay away from the courthouse during the trial because it could become a hub of white nationalism,\u201d NPR <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2021\/11\/01\/1050413087\/jury-selection-trial-kyle-rittenhouse\">noted<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s unclear why \u201cwhite nationalists\u201d would show up to the trial; Rittenhouse is white, and so are the three people he shot during the riot.<\/p>\n<p>Kenosha was overrun with arson, rioting, vandalism, and looting by protesters last summer over the police shooting of an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-cop-shot-jacob-blake-after-hearing-mothers-desperate-plea-that-blake-had-her-kid-report-says\">armed<\/a> man, Jacob Blake. The county was hit with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/economy\/damage-rioting-kenosha-50-million\">reported<\/a> $50 million in damages.<\/p>\n<p>An armed Rittenhouse, then 17 years old, went to Kenosha on one of the nights of rioting to help protect small businesses. During an incident with rioters, the teen&nbsp;fatally shot two men and injured a third. He was&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/i-had-to-protect-myself-rittenhouse-speaks-out-before-jail-release-new-details-emerge-about-fatally-shot-rioter\">charged<\/a> with two felony counts of homicide and one count of felony attempted homicide and is facing potential life in prison. In January, he&nbsp;pleaded not guilty.<\/p>\n<p>As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kenoshanews.com\/news\/local\/biden-holds-discussion-at-grace-lutheran-church\/article_4265f17e-4429-5c2a-8da9-0967c5a5c554.html\">highlighted<\/a> by Kenosha News, then-candidate Joe Biden visited Grace Lutheran Church last September.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVice President Biden intentionally listened to the pain of our community,\u201d Rev.
