Two Trump appointed Justices, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett, sided with the three Democrat appointed Justices on the bench.<\/p>\n<p>However, Justice Neil Gorsuch issued a dissenting opinion, pointing to the fact the Pine Tree State isn\u2019t allowing First Amendment protected religious exemptions.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Notably, Justice Gorsuch (joined by Alito and Thomas) expresses serious skepticism that Maine has a compelling interest in mandating COVID vaccinations among health care workers, noting the availability of vaccines and treatments. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/B2bx5jZMFA\">https:\/\/t.co\/B2bx5jZMFA<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/86cwsPUag0\">pic.twitter.com\/86cwsPUag0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Mark Joseph Stern (@mjs_DC) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mjs_DC\/status\/1454203464314236928?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 29, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThis case presents an important constitutional question, a serious error, and an irreparable injury,\u201d wrote Gorsuch. \u201cWhere many other states have adopted religious exemptions, Maine has charted a different course. There, health care workers who have served on the front line of a pandemic for the last 18 months are now being fired and their practices shuttered.
