School buses have to run. That\u2019s the reason why, you know that. The idea that there is an alternative to walk away from being able to get in your automobile is just not realistic. It\u2019s just not going to happen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The president noted that gas prices above $3.35 a gallon have a tremendous economic impact on the middle class.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy the way, when the cost of a gallon of gasoline gets to above $3.35 a gallon, it has a profound impact on the working-class families just to get back-and-forth to work,\u201d he said. \u201cSo I don\u2019t see anything inconsistent with that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2021-10-31\/granholm-sees-u-s-gasoline-easing-blames-opec-for-high-prices\">Bloomberg<\/a>, the national average daily price for a gallon for regular unleaded gasoline now stands at a whopping&nbsp;$3.40, a full $1.26 more than last year\u2019s average around this time ($2.14). Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm blamed the intense spike on OPEC and the pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat oil market is controlled by a cartel,\u201d Granholm said on NBC\u2019s <em>Meet the Press<\/em> on Sunday. \u201cThat cartel is OPEC.
