Greg Murphy (R-NC).&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In an exclusive statement to Breitbart News,&nbsp; he said \u201cnot one American taxpayer penny\u201d should contribute to the \u201cabsurd, unconscionable initiative that would further implode our border security,\u201d adding any such funds would be a \u201cslap in the face\u201d to Americans.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p><span>Noting various \u201cself-inflicted crises\u201d currently plaguing the U.S., the North Carolina Republican criticized the notion of a \u201cprize fund for illegal immigrants\u201d who knowingly broke the law, in his statement:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"13\">\n<p><span>In the face of an overwhelming number of self-inflicted crises: 30-year high inflation, supply chain disruptions, the Afghanistan debacle, labor shortages, and of course the crisis at our Southern Border, it\u2019s a slap in the face to the American people that this administration would even consider using taxpayer dollars to create a prize fund for illegal immigrants who have knowingly and purposely broken our laws.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>He also slammed the amount of compensation proposed, claiming it was disproportionate to that paid to families of fallen service members and 9\/11 victims.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cNot to mention the fact that the proposed amount, $450,000, far exceeds the insurance payments given to families of U.S. service members killed in action, as well as the compensation given to families of the fallen from September 11th,\u201d he continued.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p><span>He then warned the \u201cabsurd, unconscionable\u201d move would be further damaging to the country\u2019s eroding border security.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"11.263698630137\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Biden\u2019s administration is considering a plan that would give border crossers, who were subjected to former President Donald Trump\u2019s \u201cZero Tolerance\u201d policy, about $450,000 each in a reparations-style payout. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/4xYojvRqoh\">https:\/\/t.co\/4xYojvRqoh<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart News (@BreitbartNews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartNews\/status\/1453830933681950720?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 28, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>\u201cNot one American taxpayer penny should go towards this absurd, unconscionable initiative that would further implode our border security,\u201d he added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>On Friday, Rep. Murphy <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/gregmurphy.house.gov\/media\/press-releases\/murphy-leads-gop-letter-slamming-administrations-plan-compensate-illegal\"><span>announced<\/span><\/a><span> he had led a letter \u2014 with over 40 other Republicans signed on \u2014 addressed to U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Xavier Becerra, and Attorney General Merrick Garland, expressing \u201curgent concern\u201d regarding a recent <\/span><i><span>Wall Street Journal<\/span><\/i> <a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/biden-administration-in-talks-to-pay-hundreds-of-millions-to-immigrant-families-separated-at-border-11635447591?mod=politics_lead_pos10__;!!Bg5easoyC-OII2vlEqY8mTBrtW-N4OJKAQ!YDw5hlfz1QJppXPXTqWBzkvN_30Nu_w-n-PlNIcX1OrWAP7USokf5wNEQRLM7cZ354evcoI%24\"><span>report<\/span><\/a><span> detailing the Biden Administration\u2019s potential decision to pay illegal immigrants who crossed the U.S. border in 2018 roughly $450,000 in compensation per person.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI was incredulous when I read the report that the Biden Administration wants to send half a million dollar checks to illegal immigrants who broke our laws\u201d he said, adding it was \u201ca truly asinine, pro-crime idea that will incentivize illegal immigration and open the floodgates for a surge at the border.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p><span>Demanding President Biden provide answers as to why those who \u201cknowingly and unlawfully\u201d entered the country illegally are prioritized over Americans, the letter blasts the alleged rationale for the \u201cegregious abuse of taxpayer dollars\u201d \u2014 compensation for \u201clasting psychological drama.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_18494882\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\" readability=\"37\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/GettyImages-1235451489.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-18494882\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/GettyImages-1235451489.jpg\" alt=\"PEDRO PARDO\/AFP via Getty Images\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Haitian migrants cross the Rio Grande river, as seen from Ciudad Acuna, Coahuila state, Mexico on September 23, 2021. (PEDRO PARDO\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><span>Calling the promise of exorbitant funds to those who unlawfully entered the country a \u201cmessage to the world that our borders are open, and our rule of law will not be enforced,\u201d the letter concludes by highlighting the \u201cshameful\u201d thought of prioritizing those who broke the country\u2019s laws over those who gave their lives defending it.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p><span>\u201cThe idea that we would give illegal foreigners who broke the law a check that exceeds the amount that our government supplies to our valiant and heroic Gold Star Families is shameful, reprehensible, and morally indignant,\u201d it states.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Co-signers of the letter include GOP Caucus Chair Rep. Elise Stefanik of New York, Texas Rep. Dan Crenshaw, and House Minority Whip Steve Scalise of Louisiana.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Last week, as Breitbart News <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/10\/28\/report-biden-considers-paying-border-crossers-450k-each-in-reparations\/\"><span>reported<\/span><\/a><span>, the Biden administration weighed whether to provide border crossers \u2014 who were subjected to the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2018\/06\/21\/court-records-feds-have-separated-illegal-alien-families-since-before-2001\/\"><span>zero tolerance<\/span><\/a><span> policy \u2014 with $450,000 each as part of a payout in lawsuits filed.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B4\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"7.9411764705882\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">One million migrants have crossed the border since October, according to a June 29 report by CNN. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/E1N4UjOKeK\">https:\/\/t.co\/E1N4UjOKeK<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart News (@BreitbartNews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartNews\/status\/1410795710962884614?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 2, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>In some instances, a family unit could secure about $1 million from the payout and overall, payouts could cost American taxpayers over $1 billion.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Lawyers representing the border crossers have argued that each family unit should get $3.4 million in payouts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Former President Donald Trump had <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/10\/29\/bidens-450k-reparations-for-border-crossers-exceeds-payments-to-9-11-victims-american-military-families\/\"><span>instituted<\/span><\/a><span> the zero tolerance policy at the United States-Mexico border in 2018 to reduce illegal immigration, a policy which had been utilized since at least before 2001.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>As a result of the policy, adult border crossers were often put into separate holding facilities from children they arrived with at the southern border.
