The FEC must fully investigate these serious charges that he accepted $350,000 in illegal foreign contributions for his current campaign,\u201d said Paul Kamenar, an attorney representing the National Legal and Policy Center.<\/p>\n<p>In the United States, political candidates may not accept funds from foreign nations and entities. However, if foreign funds are donated by a&nbsp;U.S.-based subsidiary that is run by American leadership, donations can be finagled. Such a workaround \u201ccan be a murky legal distinction,\u201d the <em>Free Beacon<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>LycaTel LLC, an entity owned by a Sri Lankan-British national, reportedly donated $350,000 in July to McAuliffe. The <em>Free Beacon<\/em> reported the entity is a subsidiary of the owner of a \u201cU.K.-based telecom conglomerate, which boasts a complicated web of offshore businesses and has been the subject of tax-fraud and money-laundering charges in France.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Allirajah Subaskaran, the reported mastermind of the web of entities, also reportedly owns additional companies in other sectors, which have come under scrutiny in France for alleged unpaid taxes. During the French investigation, French officials arrested&nbsp;\u201c19 people suspected of being involved in a money-laundering system implicating Lycamobile and Lycamobile Services,\u201d&nbsp;French prosecutors&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-3649301\/Offices-Conservative-Party-s-biggest-donor-Lycamobile-raided-French-police-nine-people-charged-suspicion-money-laundering-tax-fraud.html\">stated<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Activity linked to the alleged fraud was reportedly photographed in the United Kingdom. The reported images indicate weekly toted bags of cash that could be worth up to $1,000,000. All parties have denied wrongdoing.<\/p>\n<p>Request for comment on the ethics complaint was ignored by&nbsp;McAuliffe\u2019s campaign.<\/p>\n<p>The&nbsp;ethics complaint comes as&nbsp;McAuliffe\u2019s campaign is reeling from the tiki torch stunt on Friday. Images of the hoax reveal&nbsp;five people,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/10\/29\/democrat-operative-admits-involvement-failed-virginia-tiki-torch-false-flag-plot\/\">including<\/a>&nbsp;at least one Democrat operative, held tiki torches in front of candidate Youngkin\u2019s campaign bus to remind \u201cVirginians what happened in Charlottesville four years ago,\u201d the Lincoln Project said,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/10\/29\/lincoln-project-takes-responsibility-for-tiki-torch-hoax-in-virginia\/\">admitting<\/a>&nbsp;to producing the scene.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>The stunt was intended to link&nbsp;Youngkin\u2019s campaign with President Donald Trump. The Lincoln Project\u2019s statement harkened back to&nbsp;Charlottesville, suggesting Trump called neo-Nazis in Charlottesville \u201cvery fine people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But the Lincoln Project took former President Trump\u2019s comments out of context. A transcript of Trump\u2019s words revealed the president <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/10\/29\/lincoln-project-takes-responsibility-for-tiki-torch-hoax-in-virginia\/\">said<\/a>,&nbsp;\u201cYou had some very bad people in that group, but you also had people that were very fine people, on both sides.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>The failed stunt was exacerbated by&nbsp;McAuliffe\u2019s communications director being&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/10\/29\/exclusive-mcauliffe-spokesman-ashamed-of-racist-tweets-apologizes-days-before-election\/\">forced<\/a>&nbsp;to apologize for bigoted tweets on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to profoundly apologize and use this as a moment to grow and learn from my mistakes,\u201d&nbsp;Renzo Olivari told Breitbart News. \u201cWhen I was in high school student, I tweeted things that were clearly unacceptable.
