He suffered injuries to his ribs, face, and brain from the shrapnel lodged into his body,\u201d the report stated.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The veteran said he did not think anything would happen when he contacted Building Homes for Heroes, but he soon found out otherwise.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cRight away we started talking, and then talking turned to action, and this started coming together and I could not believe how generous these people were being to me and my family,\u201d Ellis recalled.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">In a social media post on Wednesday, the organization&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/buildinghomesforheroes\/posts\/4984555241571747\">shared<\/a> photos of the ceremony and the family when they received the keys to the house:<\/p>\n<div class=\"fb-post\" data-href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/buildinghomesforheroes\/posts\/4984555241571747\" data-width=\"640\" readability=\"24.802702702703\">\n<blockquote cite=\"https:\/\/graph.facebook.com\/208138712546781\/posts\/4984555241571747\/\" class=\"fb-xfbml-parse-ignore\" readability=\"8.627027027027\">\n<p>We are grateful for another beautiful home gifting ceremony in Chester, VA!Today, U.S. Marine Corps Lance Corporal\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Posted by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/208138712546781\">Building Homes For Heroes<\/a> on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/graph.facebook.com\/208138712546781\/posts\/4984555241571747\/\">Wednesday, October 27, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The veteran was welcomed with a police escort to the home, and American flags were seen lining the way.
