Andy Harris (R-Md.) says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor people who\u2019ve had the disease and who have naturally acquired immunity, there is no reason to get a vaccine,\u201d Harris, the co-chair of the House Doctors Caucus, said on NTD\u2019s \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ntd.com\/rep-andy-harris-on-vaccines-for-children-mandates_694403.html\">Capitol Report<\/a>\u201d this week.<\/p>\n<p>Dozens of studies <a href=\"https:\/\/brownstone.org\/articles\/79-research-studies-affirm-naturally-acquired-immunity-to-covid-19-documented-linked-and-quoted\/\">have shown<\/a> strong immunity to reinfection among people who got COVID-19 and recovered.<\/p>\n<p>COVID-19 is the disease caused by the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/giving-the-right-name-to-the-virus-causing-a-worldwide-pandemic-2_3277200.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur conclusion is that if you were previously infected, you are protected because of the previous infection and you don\u2019t need the vaccine,\u201d Dr. Nabin Shrestha, of the Cleveland Clinic\u2019s Department of Infectious Disease, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/study-people-who-have-recovered-from-covid-19-unlikely-to-benefit-from-vaccine_3850989.html\">told The Epoch Times<\/a> earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>Shrestha led a team that found employees at the clinic who had natural immunity were unlikely to benefit from vaccination.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe science is becoming very clear that naturally acquired immunity actually is better than vaccine-acquired immunity,\u201d Harris said.<\/p>\n<p>Many experts agree with the school of thought, though the view is far from universal.<\/p>\n<p>Top public health officials and agencies, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, still urge practically everybody to get a COVID-19 vaccine, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/vaccines\/prepare-for-vaccination.html\">even those<\/a> who recovered from the disease.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGetting the vaccine is the best way to protect yourself and others around you, especially as the more contagious Delta variant spreads around the country,\u201d Dr. Rochelle Walensky, the head of the centers, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/covid-19-vaccines-offer-more-protection-than-previous-infection-study_3937223.html\">said in August<\/a> after a study suggested those with natural immunity benefited from vaccination.<\/p>\n<p>The debate was on full display during a recent Food and Drug Administration panel hearing considering whether to advise the agency to give shots to children as young as 5 years old.<\/p>\n<p>Multiple members said data indicates children with prior infection don\u2019t need a vaccine. Another proposal bandied about is giving such children a single shot, as opposed to the two-dose regimen often used for the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines.<\/p>\n<p>Harris says the COVID-19 vaccine mandates that don\u2019t incorporate testing or natural immunity opt-outs have widespread resistance and the consequences of the mandates are severe.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are always going to be 15 or 20 percent of Americans who will just resist the government mandate. They just won\u2019t get the vaccine, whether or not they\u2019ve had naturally acquired immunity, and the consequences of taking those people out of the workplace, for instance, is going to be very broad, very widespread, and I think very bad for our economy,\u201d he told NTD.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf someone doesn\u2019t want to get the vaccine, then just ask them to be tested every few days, make sure that if they\u2019re tested, they quarantine themselves.
