Terry McAuliffe in two esteemed poll averages, four days before Virginia voters go to the polls to decide their state\u2019s next governor.<\/p>\n<p>Youngkin and McAuliffe are tied at 47.1% in FiveThirtyEight\u2019s polling <a href=\"https:\/\/projects.fivethirtyeight.com\/polls\/governor\/virginia\/?ex_cid=rrpromo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">average<\/a>, while the Republican leads 48.2% to 47% in RealClearPolitics\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearpolitics.com\/epolls\/2021\/governor\/va\/virginia_governor_youngkin_vs_mcauliffe-7373.html#polls\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">equivalent<\/a>. Youngkin has whittled away at McAuliffe\u2019s lead for weeks, even as Virginia has trended Democratic and elected President Joe Biden by 10 points less than a year ago.<\/p>\n<p>Youngkin\u2019s polling average was boosted by a Fox News <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/10\/28\/youngkin-beating-mcauliffe-8-points-new-poll\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">poll<\/a> released Thursday that showed him up by eight points among likely voters, a 13-point swing from the outlet\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/static.foxnews.com\/foxnews.com\/content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Fox_October-10-13_Virginia_Topline_October-14-Release.pdf\">poll<\/a> from two weeks ago.<\/p>\n<p>While most of the race centered around the economy and coronavirus vaccine, education has emerged as one of the most prominent issues in it. (Win McNamee\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Barack Obama have all <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/10\/27\/joe-biden-terry-mcauliffe-virginia-rally-campaign\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">campaigned<\/a> with Youngkin in recent days in an attempt to energize the Democratic base. They have sought to tie Youngkin to former President Donald Trump, who has mostly stayed out of the race besides floating an appearance with Youngkin that did not actually happen.<\/p>\n<p>Virginia voters are also casting ballots for the House of Delegates and state Senate.
