The haphazard rollout of this mandate has created chaos in the NYPD,\u201d PBA President Patrick Lynch said in a statement.<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>\u201cCity Hall has given no reason that a vaccine mandate with a weekly testing option is no longer enough to protect police officers and the public, especially while the number of COVID-19 cases continues to fall.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To date, the NYPD \u2014 comprised of&nbsp;36,000 officers and roughly 19,000 civilian staff members \u2014&nbsp;says 73% of its cops are vaccinated against the coronavirus.<\/p>\n<div class=\"entry-content\" readability=\"51.245301681503\">\n<p>The development <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/10\/08\/bill-de-blasio-prefer-respect-peoples-intelligence-before-forcing-them-get-vaccinated\/\">comes<\/a> after New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio recently said that he will \u201crespect people\u2019s intelligence\u201d before mandating vaccines. I\u2019d like to respect people\u2019s intelligence,\u201d the mayor said.&nbsp;\u201cWe have, I think, pretty meticulously over the course of the pandemic tried to figure out what made sense to do, when, and make sure we had all the pieces in place.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI do believe you sequence things in different ways. And there are still issues we have to understand better and resolve. It\u2019s not always a matter of just push a button.
