Not necessarily. At some point during the rehearsal, the actor pulled the trigger, fatally shooting the film\u2019s cinematographer, Halyna Hutchins, and wounding its director, Joel Souza.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Carmack-Altwies told&nbsp;Llamas that the question of how two people inspected a gun and not know there was a live round in it remains to be answered, \u201cand is&nbsp;probably the&nbsp;linchpin of the entire case.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think corners were definitely cut on this set,\u201d the district attorney said.<\/p>\n<p>Carmack-Altwies added that this particular investigation is \u201cvery&nbsp;challenging,\u201d as it involves \u201ca movie set that gets used a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are spent casings, I think, all over the place on that ranch,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd so, discerning which spent casing is from the <em>Rust<\/em> production, and which is from some other production earlier in the year is pretty difficult.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The firearm Baldwin used was one of three that the film\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/entertainment\/2021\/10\/24\/head-armorer-on-alec-baldwin-rust-movie-set-said-she-almost-didnt-take-her-last-job-over-fears-she-was-not-ready\/\">head armorer<\/a> Hannah Gutierrez-Reed had set on a cart outside a church where a scene was being rehearsed. The gun was later picked up by assistant director&nbsp;Dave Halls, who brought it to Baldwin, informing the actor it was a \u201ccold gun\u201d \u2014 meaning&nbsp;the firearm didn\u2019t have any live rounds in it.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p><em>Rust<\/em> was&nbsp;Gutierrez-Reed\u2019s second job as a head armorer on a movie set.<\/p>\n<p>The 24-year-old\u2019s first job as armorer was on the set of <em>The Old Way<\/em>, where she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/entertainment\/2021\/10\/27\/report-rust-armorer-hannah-gutierrez-reed-infuriated-nicolas-cage-on-previous-gig-you-just-blew-my-fing-eardrums-out\/\">reportedly<\/a> infuriated the film\u2019s star,&nbsp;Nicolas Cage, who yelled \u201cyou just blew my fucking eardrums out!\u201d at&nbsp;Gutierrez-Reed while on set, according to a crew member who spoke with TheWrap.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"6.8390804597701\">\n<p lang=\"en\" href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/entertainment\/2021\/10\/24\/head-armorer-on-alec-baldwin-rust-movie-set-said-she-almost-didnt-take-her-last-job-over-fears-she-was-not-ready\/\">interview<\/a> on the <em>Voices of the West<\/em> podcast, Gutierrez-Reed said she \u201calmost didn\u2019t take\u201d her job on the set of <em>The Old Way<\/em> due to fears that she was not \u201cready.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After being asked why it is too early to comment on charges, given that the shooting happened last week, the district attorney said, \u201cNot everyone has been&nbsp;interviewed.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B4\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI think it will really depend on the investigation finding out where those live rounds came from, who or what put them there, how they got mixed in with dummy bullets, what all of safety protocols were not followed, and who all knew about it,\u201d Carmack-Altwies told Llamas.<\/p>\n<p>In response to&nbsp;Llamas on whether&nbsp;Carmack-Altwies \u201ccan promise\u201d the family of&nbsp;Hutchins that they will get justice, the district attorney said, \u201cI think that&nbsp;depends on what the family of&nbsp;Halyna Hutchins views as justice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday,&nbsp;Carmack-Altwies <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/10\/26\/movies\/criminal-charges-shooting-alec-baldwin.html\">told<\/a> <em>the New York Times<\/em> that criminal charges in the shooting on the <em>Rust<\/em> set have not been ruled out.<\/p>\n<p>Carmack-Altwies added that she takes issue with the firearm used being described as a \u201cprop gun,\u201d as that terminology could confuse people, making them
