Marsha Blackburn\u2019s (R-TN) legislation&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.blackburn.senate.gov\/services\/files\/064573B4-225E-4383-9D34-ED625BACD341\">Keeping Our COVID-19 Heroes Employed Act<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Blackburn held a press conference Thursday with her colleagues&nbsp;Sens. Roger&nbsp;Marshall (R-KS) and Mike Braun (R-IN), as well as key industry leaders, discussing her legislation and the impact the Biden mandates will have on workers and the country as a whole.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>The legislation would specifically exempt workers who were deemed \u201cessential\u201d during the coronavirus pandemic from Biden\u2019s federal mandate.<\/p>\n<p>Essential workers, she explained, were largely deemed in local communities to be healthcare workers, truckers, first responders, construction workers, and grocery store personnel. So ultimately, she said it would play out in different ways across the country, but the point is, she emphasized, to protect those who served and adapted during the pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>Sen. (Mario Tama\/Getty Images)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Todd Spencer, President of the Owner\u2013Operator Independent Drivers Association, said a lot of truckers will just retire at the point because they have lived through a lot and want it to be their choice.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTrucking is a heavily regulated industry and most all those regulations target drivers and at some point people say I\u2019ve had enough,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>David Owen, President of the National Association of Small Trucking Companies, also spoke during the press conference and made it clear that \u201ceverybody is essential when it comes to jobs in the world we\u2019re in today.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut it\u2019s particularly so in trucking,\u201d he said, warning that the mandates could worsen existing problems with shortages of basic items.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<div id=\"attachment_18503994\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\" readability=\"35\"><a href=\"https:\/\/media.breitbart.com\/media\/2021\/10\/GettyImages-1346801756.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-18503994\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/GettyImages-1346801756-1024x683-1.jpg\" alt width=\"990\" height=\"660\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Trucks move past cargo containers at a Bayonne port on October 15, 2021 in Bayonne, New Jersey. Drivers can\u2019t miss a day. You\u2019re already seeing shortages in the grocery stories, you\u2019re going to see shortages in fuel,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFuel prices are going to continue to go sky high.
