Ted Cruz grilled Attorney General Merrick Garland on Wednesday on an alleged conflict of interest regarding his son-in-law\u2019s education company.<\/p>\n<p>During the Senate Judiciary Committee\u2019s hearing with Garland, Cruz cited reports that Garland\u2019s son-in-law <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/10\/22\/merrick-garland-son-in-law-xan-tanner-panorama-critical-race-theory\/\">profits<\/a>&nbsp;from an education company that promotes concepts associated with critical race theory. Garland has&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/10\/21\/there-are-no-conflicts-of-interest-merrick-garland-responded-to-questioning-over-his-son-in-laws-pro-crt-education-company\/\">denied<\/a> any conflict of interest between his son-in-law\u2019s business and the NSBA messaging.<\/p>\n<p>Cruz asked the attorney general if he sought and received a decision from an ethics adviser at the Department of Justice (DOJ) before making a decision that could financially benefit his son-in-law.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes or no did you seek an ethics opinion? Did you seek an ethics opinion? General are you refusing to answer if you sought an ethics opinion?\u201d Cruz asked Garland.<\/p>\n<p>Garland was cut off as he was saying that the memorandum directing the FBI to target the growing movement of parents protesting school boards has nothing to do with critical race theory, to which Cruz said: \u201cSo you\u2019re saying no!? Just answer it directly. You know how to answer a question directly. Did you seek an ethics opinion?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m telling you that if I thought there was any reason to believe there was a conflict of interest,\u201d Garland responded.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy do you refuse to answer the question? Why don\u2019t you just say no?\u201d Cruz added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf critical race theory is taught in more schools does your son-in-law make more money? Yes or no?\u201d Cruz pressed Garland, to which he did not receive a response.<\/p>\n<p>Garland\u2019s son-in-law is reportedly the co-founder of Panorama Education, Inc., a company that reportedly publishes and sells critical race theory materials and works with school districts across the U.S. to obtain and analyze data on students. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/10\/27\/exclusive-sen-cruz-lists-the-five-questions-ag-garland-must-answer-during-senate-testimony\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: EXCLUSIVE: Ted Cruz Lists Five Questions AG Garland Must Answer During Senate Testimony)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Panorama Education <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/10\/21\/there-are-no-conflicts-of-interest-merrick-garland-responded-to-questioning-over-his-son-in-laws-pro-crt-education-company\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reaches 12 million K-12 students<\/a> in 21,000 schools, its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.panoramaed.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">website<\/a> states. The company conducts <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/09\/one-of-the-wealthiest-school-districts-in-us-reallocates-covid-19-relief-funds-toward-equity-programs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">student screening surveys<\/a> that ask questions like, \u201cHow confident are you that students at your school can have honest conversations with each other about race?\u201d and \u201cHow often do you think about what someone of a different race, ethnicity, or culture experiences?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Biden DOJ has embraced Critical Race Theory.
