Unvaccinated FEMA workers aren\u2019t replacing health care workers who refuse to get vaccinated, according to FEMA\u2019s acting press secretary.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The image features a screen grab of <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jacobcabe\/status\/1449496593699414031\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">an Oct. 16 tweet<\/a> that reads, \u201cBREAKING: The FEMA healthcare workers replacing the noncompliant nurses and doctors are not required to get vaccinated via CDC.\u201d The inaccurate claim comes as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/10\/06\/world\/health-care-workers-vaccination.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">some health care workers<\/a> across the U.S. have resigned, been suspended or terminated due to workplace COVID-19 vaccine requirements<\/p>\n<p>FEMA is a federal agency <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fema.gov\/about\/organization\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">within<\/a> the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dhs.gov\/employee-resources\/covid-19-vaccines\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Department of Homeland Security<\/a> and, therefore, its workers are subject to President Joe Biden\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/presidential-actions\/2021\/09\/09\/executive-order-on-requiring-coronavirus-disease-2019-vaccination-for-federal-employees\/https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/presidential-actions\/2021\/09\/09\/executive-order-on-requiring-coronavirus-disease-2019-vaccination-for-federal-employees\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">executive order<\/a> requiring all federal employees of the executive branch to be vaccinated against COVID-19. The Safer Federal Workforce Task Force, which is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.saferfederalworkforce.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">led<\/a> by the White House COVID-19 Response Team, General Services Administration and Office of Personnel Management, states <a href=\"https:\/\/www.saferfederalworkforce.gov\/faq\/vaccinations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">on its website<\/a> that federal employees \u201cneed to be fully vaccinated by November 22, 2021.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnvaccinated FEMA employees aren\u2019t replacing noncompliant health care workers,\u201d Acting FEMA Press Secretary Caitlin Justesen told Check Your Fact via email. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/10\/11\/fact-check-national-guard-vaccinated-covid-replace-nurses-new-york\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Will National Guard Members Be Required To Get Vaccinated Against COVID-19 If They Replace Unvaccinated Nurses In New York?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>FEMA states <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fema.gov\/disaster\/current#covid-19\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">on its website<\/a> that it is working with other federal agencies to \u201ccoordinate with state, tribal and territorial authorities, private sector partners and others to assist, augment and expedite vaccinations in the United States.\u201d The agency has also provided support by leasing equipment to \u201cadminister and store the vaccine,\u201d offering \u201cstaffing and training support,\u201d providing \u201cpersonal protective equipment and other administrative supplies,\u201d establishing vaccination centers and setting up \u201calternate care sites to relieve pressure on local hospital systems,\u201d among other measures, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fema.gov\/disaster\/coronavirus\/vaccine-support\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">FEMA\u2019s<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fema.gov\/disaster\/coronavirus\/patients-healthcare\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>FEMA medical staff deployed at states\u2019 requests to help relieve pandemic-related stress on states\u2019 health care systems \u201cabide by the vaccination and other preventive measures requirements established by the receiving facility,\u201d a FEMA spokesperson <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/fact-checking-354796323498\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">told<\/a> the Associated Press.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. has recorded over 45.3 million total COVID-19 cases to date, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/covid.cdc.gov\/covid-data-tracker\/#trends_dailycases\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website<\/a>.
