The Microsoft co-founder said that scaling up climate technologies will be impossible \u201cunless the government\u2019s coming in with the right policies, and the right policy is exactly what\u2019s in that infrastructure bill.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>An announcement from Gates\u2019 climate venture fund, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breakthroughenergy.org\/catalyst-announcement\">Breakthrough Energy Catalyst<\/a>, said that several corporate partners \u2014 including American Airlines, ArcelorMittal, Bank of America, BlackRock, Boston Consulting Group, General Motors, and Microsoft \u2014 have joined the effort:<\/p>\n<p>These partners will come together with Breakthrough Energy to make significant investments in early commercial demonstration projects, offer perspectives on continued private sector engagement, provide insights on investment and offtake strategies, and help to encourage more companies to join Catalyst. Additional anchor partners may be announced leading up to the COP26, the United Nations Climate Change Conference in November.<\/p>\n<p>Through direct investments, Catalyst and its partners will help reduce the costs of clean technologies so they can compete with and replace the greenhouse gas emitting counterparts we have today.
