Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) called for a special legislative session to put a stop to such mandates, announcing a series of actions being taken to protect Florida jobs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour right to earn a living should not be contingent upon COVID shots. On a principal basis, we have the responsibility to stand up for people\u2019s individual rights and individual freedoms, and make sure that in the state of Florida, people can make those decisions,\u201d DeSantis stated.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) has long urged action be taken against the mandate and highlighted Texas shouldn\u2019t be forced to choose between their livelihood and a vaccine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNeither the President of the United States nor the federal government have any legal authority, any constitutional authority to issue their vaccine mandate,\u201d said Abbott.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Biden&#8217;s vaccine mandate is unconstitutional. Period.<\/p>\n<p>Texans shouldn&#8217;t be forced to choose between their livelihood &amp; a vaccine.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m confident the Lone Star State will win any legal showdown my Executive Order may bring. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/mPcSwVZfxl\">pic.twitter.com\/mPcSwVZfxl<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Greg Abbott (@GregAbbott_TX) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GregAbbott_TX\/status\/1450842629642596364?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 20, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Abbott issued an executive order banning the mandates by private companies, but the bill failed to pass during a special legislative session.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich was the first attorney general to file a lawsuit against Biden\u2019s mandate and announced he filed an amended complaint asking for a temporary restraining order and nationwide preliminary injunction as soon as possible.<\/p>\n<p>The Alabama Republican Party also called for state lawmakers to \u201ctake action\u201d and pass legislation opposing Biden\u2019s vaccine requirements. Republican Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) said the directive is one of the biggest federal overreaches of his lifetime.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople are losing their jobs. It\u2019s going against some people\u2019s religions,\u201d said Tuberville. \u201cI have friends that have underlying conditions that a doctor tells them do not take the vaccine, but they are still being told by Joe Biden and the federal government to take it.
