(Photo by Spencer Platt\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h5>OAN Newsroom<br \/>UPDATED 4:45 PM PT \u2013 Wednesday, October 20, 2021<\/h5>\n<p>Republican lawmakers warn the Biden administration\u2019s proposals to change asylum rules would fuel more violations of the U.S.-Mexico border.<\/p>\n<p>In a public comment on asylum rules on Wednesday, congressional Republicans said Joe Biden\u2019s push to expand asylum is unconstitutional and undermines immigration law. GOP lawmakers pointed out Biden\u2019s proposals violate the separation of powers by allowing the executive branch to make decisions instead of immigration courts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe proposed rule represents a blatant violation of the laws passed by Congress,\u201d 68 congressional Republicans wrote in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scribd.com\/document\/533987046\/Congressional-Republican-Asylum-Rule-Comment#download&amp;from_embed\">letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland and Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas<\/a>. \u201cIt ignores the mandatory detention requirements of aliens claiming asylum through mass parole, violates the principles of separation of powers and inappropriately shifts the roles of asylum screeners and immigration courts.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Democrats are willing to give amnesty to illegal aliens with criminal charges.
