The video includes text that reads \u201cWill Dr. Fauci Take PCR Covid Test?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not taking a test for a simple reason: I have no symptoms. I\u2019m practicing pretty good social distancing,\u201d he says <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CU72cyJpH3H\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;ig_rid=b57c5a2f-f429-4033-94b4-bc14a3c05688\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">in the video<\/a>. After the interviewer briefly interjects, he adds, \u201cNot everybody in the United States should take a test. I mean, I have no symptoms.\u201d It then plays a clip of actor and comedian Kevin Hart.<\/p>\n<p>The video clip, however, has been misleadingly edited and leaves out important context, Check Your Fact found after reviewing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2020\/03\/15\/politics\/anthony-fauci-coronavirus-test\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">interview<\/a> in its entirety.&nbsp;<strong><a title=\"BY A \u2018POLITICAL INFLUENCER\u2019 AT AN AIRPORT?\" href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/05\/06\/fact-check-anthony-fauci-confronted-political-influencer-airport\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Was Dr. Anthony Fauci Recently Confronted By A \u2018Political Influencer\u2019 At An Airport?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The interview <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2020\/03\/15\/politics\/anthony-fauci-coronavirus-test\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">took place<\/a> in mid-March 2020, when testing was not yet widely available and CDC guidelines prioritized certain groups for COVID-19 testing. Those groups included hospitalized patients exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, individuals with symptoms who had come into contact with a suspected or confirmed case or had traveled to an affected area, and people with symptoms who were 65 and older or who had a medical condition that puts them at a higher risk for poor outcomes, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/emergency.cdc.gov\/han\/2020\/han00429.asp?deliveryName=USCDC_511-DM22015\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">March 8, 2020, CDC Health Alert Network document<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The video in the Oct. 12 Instagram post abruptly switches to the clip of Hart before Fauci <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2020\/03\/15\/politics\/anthony-fauci-coronavirus-test\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">goes on to say<\/a>, \u201cIf I\u2019m in a situation where I\u2019m at a higher risk, I will take a test.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There are now COVID-19 tests readily available that can determine if a person has a current infection, as well as ones that can tell if a person has previously been infected with the virus, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/symptoms-testing\/testing.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CDC website<\/a>.
